bjbj Hi, I m Dan with DJ2 Motorsports. Inside this video I want to give you an introduction
of what you have to look forward to in our Control the Roll video series. No matter what
type of car or truck that you re driving, or building, or racing, the chassis under
it and it s setup needs to be well understood to be able to maximize its capabilities to
make it as fast as possible. Our goal with these videos is to give you some practical
useful information to take and apply to your chassis setup whatever it may be. We may not
meet your exact specifications for whatever you are building or driving, but hopefully
you ll learn enough and take enough of this information and apply it to your circumstances
that you have and get you at least headed in the right direction. Some of the advantages
of that will be that you can alleviate some of the frustration from countless hours of
testing, try to save you some money on fuel and tires because of all of the testing, get
those bragging rights because you know what your setup s doing now and you ll be able
to beat your buddies out there, friends, whatever. And, also be able to ask some intelligent
questions to the people that are in your specific circumstance, so you can at least gather some
more information and be able to tell if the information that they are giving you is accurate
or not. Now some of the topics that we are going to plan on covering, and not all of
these may apply to you, and we may have more coming down the road, but I ve got a list,
and you ll have to excuse that I have paper because I want to make sure that we don t
miss anything but we re going to cover basic suspension definitions, how force and torque
effect cornering, how your control arms effect camber angles as the suspension moves, how
to find your roll center, ways to find your center of gravity, camber, toe, caster, springs,
spring rate, wheel rate, and your shocks. Tire temperature reading, and what it will
help to tell you about your setup. Weight distribution, we ll cover some of that. The
definition of sprung and unsprung weight, because I know that there is a lot of questions
about what that is. Bump steer and Ackerman, anti-squat, and that will be coming in handy
for a lot of you drag racers out there because that has a lot to do with anti-squat. Brakes
and brake bias, sway bars, panhard bars, 3-link and 4-link torque arm suspensions, chassis
and frame design and ways to stiffen it and strengthen it, and we ll see where things
go from there. Now, you want to make sure that you leave comments so we kind of have
an idea of what everybody s looking at and what you want more information for, and we
ll get that researched if we don t know it and we ll get that posted also. I also want
to give a special thanks to Summit Racing, they have been able to provide us with us
with some suspension parts to be able to do our little mock up suspension that we ll be
working on later to show camber angles and all that so make sure you check them out for
all your parts and all your needs. They ve got everything from circle track, street cars,
drag cars, all the way through ATV s (All Terrain Vehicles) so make sure you check them
out at HYPERLINK "http://www.SummitRacing.com" www.SummitRacing.com And to make sure you
don t miss any of the new videos that are coming out, look below this video and check
for the link to our website so you can register for those updates, and in the comment box
on the one on our website, just make sure you put Update Me in the comment section and
we ll make sure you get on that list. You can also join us on Facebook and Twitter to
stay connected so look, so look for those links below also. We really appreciate everyone
