Here is the new Toyota Aygo. This is the real production car which you will be able to buy
from around 9 grand when it goes on sale in July.
The new car is slightly bigger than the old model for improved practicality. As before
there is a glass back panel and but open it an you get a tad more space though it's still
not as big as the Hyundai i10s. Go on have a look...
In the back the Aygo has improved head and leg room marginally and you can notice that
you don't feel quite as hemmed in. It's still no limo back here though.
Inside the front of the car you can get it with a 7 inch touch screen, while all models
get LED daytime running lights and USB for the stereo. Also on the higher spec models
you can personalize the interior and the exterior with various coloured bits of trim. Naked
cars will be shipped to the UK and then the panels you wanted bolted on -- as this speeds
up delivery times.
Okay let's talk about engines -- and this is easy. There's just one -- and it's the
same 67bhp 1.0-litre 3cyl as before. It's been tweaked, but not for speed -- it still
takes over 14 seconds to 60mph. But emissions are improved and so to is economy -- the most
efficient Aygo will do 72mpg. No as before Toyota built the Aygo in conjunction with
Peugeot and Citroen. So let's go check out their cars
Well here is Citroen's version the C1. It shares its windscreen, chassis and front doors
with the Toyota but elsewhere its sufficiently different as you'll see right now...
The C1 and its Toyota and Peugeot equivalents will be available with a peel back fabric
roof a bit like on the old 2CV. However, if you go for the hard topped version you can
have the roof painted to contract one of the eight body paint screens. Why don't you have
a look at the C1s interior and when you've finished I'll meet you at the Peugeot stand.
So finally here we are with the replacement of the 107 -- which is called the 108... As
with the Aygo and C1 there are an array of personalization options both inside and out,
but of the trio it seems the most conservative though I will let you make your own mind up.
This Peugeot and the Citroen are available with two engines -- the 1.0-litre which the
Aygo gets and a nippier 1.2-litre. They are also both offered with a semi automatic gearbox.
But then the Toyota has a five year rather than three year warranty. So all things considered
which of the three would you have. Well let's find out by having a vote. Write 108, C1 or
Aygo in the comments box to have your say....
