Rent - The broadway tour - Day 3

Telly: Good morning. Karmine: Good morning! Telly: Hi, this is Karmine Alers from the cast of RENT. This is Telly Leung. Today is January 3rd, and we are on day 3 of the RENT tour. Karmine: Ohhh! Telly: Day 3, and for all of you out there who think that the life of an actor is as glamorous as you think, it’s not all glitz and glamour, folks. We are cooking – what is that? Apples and bananas? Karmine: This is apples and bananas. I’m cooking it in a little bit of brown-rice syrup. It’s gluten-free. Telly: And we are doing this... with a hot plate! Karmine: Check out the hot plate! Telly: With a hot plate. Hold on, let me show us the hot plate. OK. On a hot plate in our hotel room at the Wyndham Hotel in Cleveland. Karmine and I are roommates. I know that might sound scandalous to some, but we’re actually like brother and sister. Karmine: We are, and then wait! One more thing though you should know is I’m making it with oatmeal, by the way. Telly: Delicious. Karmine: Right? And, we’re going to have this with some of Telly’s specialty coffee, and I’m going to show you that right now. Telly: Oh wait, hold on. Karmine: All right. Go, Telly. Telly: I just came from the gym, so I look a little busted. Karmine: Oh, shut up. [laughs] That’s another thing, everyone tries to stay really healthy on the road. Telly: I have a little French press, you see. And I’m going to grind the coffee and then make it with a little French, a little French press action. Karmine: Crazy. Telly: I’m going to boil a little water. Karmine: We know how to survive on the road! Telly: I have a little hot water pot. Karmine: Yes. Telly: This is tour living… [Karmine laughs] Telly: …just so you know. Karmine: I love it! I love it! Telly: You think it’s all dining out and eating at fancy restaurants. It’s not, kids. Karmine: It’s not. Telly: We’re trying to save some money. Karmine: That’s right. Telly: And in an effort to save some money and drink good coffee, you have to make it yourself. Karmine [whispers]: That’s right. Telly: That’s right. ’Cause being on tour is no excuse for drinking bad coffee. Karmine: So we wanna thank you, and we hope that you realize… how HARD OUR LIVES ARE!
