If I have a teacher that's just boring I'm not really going to get anything from it.
It'll be like I'm looking at a history textbook,
just talking to me and I really don't like that.
>> Is it possible,
is it possible to break the law and still do the right thing.
I want everyone to respond in writing.
I'm only going to give you 30 seconds.
Your quick response, before you talk to anybody, write it down.
When I first got into teaching, like I thought success was 85% on the state test.
And if my students had an average of an 85 then I was successful.
They were successful.
High five, go home, call it a day. Within just a short
amount of time, I realized that that was so flawed.
Like the students are more than a score.
They're more than a number, and that can't be the measure of success.
It could be the measure of achievement, but I
don't think it can be the measure of like success.
My job would probably be easier, if I was interested in just turning out drones
that didn't have to think for themselves, and didn't have to think about how their actions
affected other people. Yeah, life would be a lot simpler, right?
I don't want to live in that world. I don't want to live in that world at all.
And when I talk to parents. When I talk to kids off the record.
They don't want to live in that world either.
And I see this bumper sticker go by and said Robin Hood was right.
Robin Hood's still breaking the law, though.
He's still stealing.
What do you wanna see? What do you wanna hear?
What do you wanna
feel from your kids?
I wanna see that my students you know, going to the best universities and colleges.
And yeah, okay, maybe.
I think beyond that, what kind of people do you want?
What kind of leaders do you want them to, to be?
