Top 5 Biggest Moments From SmackDown Live- A New Era In The Women’s Division
5 THE BLUDGEON BROTHERS DEBUT For weeks now WWE has been promising us the return of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. Their return also promised a twist though.
No longer, members of the Wyatt Family, Harper and Rowan have decided to christen themselves The Bludgeon Brothers. Considering the amount of build it was beginning to stink of an act that would never actually make it to live television.
It has though and this past Tuesday Harper and Rowan debuted their new gimmick against The Hype Bros. It didn’t take long for the returning stars to make a statement.
After taking out Zack Ryder, that just left Mojo Rawley to deal with, and that they did. An easy win for the brothers.
4 SHANE TRIED TO FIRE OWENS AND ZAYN Shane McMahon must be getting pretty sick of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn by now.
First, they were responsible for him going through a table from the top of Hell In A Cell, and on Sunday night, they beat the commissioner down and cost SmackDown Live a huge win at Survivor Series.
Clearly, Shane-O Mac reached the end of his tether following that last act of treachery and on Tuesday night he attempted to fire the pair. Thankfully a level-headed Daniel Bryan intervened and came up with something a little more fitting.
Considering the entirety of Team Blue is pretty peeved with Zayn and KO at the moment, Bryan put the two of them in a lumberjack match against The New Day during which the entire roster would be surrounding the ring.
3 MORE NXT SUPERSTARS JOIN THE MAIN ROSTER Just as you were getting over the shock that was Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville debuting on Raw, three more females from Full Sail joined the party on SmackDown Live.
Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan have joined forces and have already begun to take Tuesday nights by storm. Their first target? Naomi.
The former Women’s Champion was hanging out backstage when the three women took it upon themselves to beat her down.
Becky Lynch tried to assist her peer but by that point, Naomi was out for the count which meant it was three on one versus The Lass Kicker. Message sent by SmackDown Live’s newest recruits.
2 THE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH ENDS IN ANARCHY There was talk that a WWE Championship rematch would be taking place on SmackDown Live this week, but that talk led to nothing.
We did bear witness to a Women’s Championship rematch though as Natalya went about winning the title back from Charlotte Flair.
Any match between these two is going to be a good one, and with how the bout came to an end, we’re likely to see a third installment of this one.
It turns out Becky Lynch and Naomi weren’t the only ones caught in Riot, Morgan, and Logan’s crosshairs. The championship match came to an end when the trio reemerged to make another mark on the division.
First, they took out Natalya, then they laid waste to The Queen.
1 KEVIN OWENS AND SAMI ZAYN PICK UP A BIG WIN Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn cost SmackDown Live on Sunday night at Survivor Series, and in the main event on Tuesday night Daniel Bryan wanted them to pay for that.
The whole men’s roster surrounded the ring for their tag match main event with The New Day and despite their best efforts throughout the evening, not many of them were on the same page as the French Canadians.
Like it or not though, there were a lot of big personalities at ringside, and it was only a matter of time before something went awry.
A misplaced forearm from United States Champion Baron Corbin caught Bobby Roode and that led to anarchy. Everyone began attacking each other and both the ring and the ringside area filled with brawling Superstars.
Ever the opportunist, Sami Zayn pounced and managed to roll up Kofi Kingston for the win. Owens managed to slip out through the brawling crowd after that, but Zayn didn’t.
Instead, he was left to suffer a three on one beat down from the defeated New Day.
