In humanitarian news, the United States donates US$1.4 million for the building of a community
center for Palestinian refugees in Syria. The center was inaugurated by representatives
from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East’s
(UNRWA), the United States Embassy in Damascus and the Syrian Arab Republic Government. Almost
144,000 Palestinians residing in the Yarmouk camp will benefit from the center. Programs
will highlight economic empowerment and focus on needs of women, those with disabilities,
and vulnerable citizens. Our heartfelt gratitude, United States, for your generosity, and United
Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East and Syria, for your
kind assistance. May many precious lives be enhanced by your caring joint endeavor.
