Well, in this tough economy it's hard for a lot of people to spend money on entertainment.
Well, as Valerie Hoff explains one local company
wants to make it easier for you to go to a special event.
Val shows you how you can save on ticket costs in tonight's "Ways to Save"
If you're hurting for money you probably don't want to spend more than a hundred
dollars on tickets for a concert and there is one Atlanta ticket company that thinks
you shouldn't have to.
Iain Bluett and Jamie Dwyer started Ticket Alternative seven years ago
with the hope of giving concert-goers and alternative to Ticketmaster
and their steep handling fees.
[Iain Bluett] "I was always annoyed when buying a concert ticket at having to
pay a huge fee on top of the price of the ticket"
They started out providing ticketing and promotion for small venues around
Atlanta. Ticket Alternative is now in forty-eight states and has contracts with
some big clients like Taste of Atlanta.
[Iain Bluett] "We do a lot of sporting events. We do a lot of theatre. We do a lot of comedy.
We do a lot of film festivals and food festivals so
it really does span the gamut."
Ticketmaster still
dominates the market place but Ticket Alternative and other boutique companies are
making in-roads by charging less.
[Iain Bluett] "Our most expensive convenience fee is probably about ten percent
then it goes down to lower eight percent as the ticket
price gets higher.
Theirs is probably in the range of forty to sixty percent."
Ticket Alternative continues to add more Atlanta locations and events to it's client list and they hope to
soon operate out of some of the bigger venues as well
saving you money and keeping money in the Atlanta market. With 11Alive's Ways to Save
