Interview with Andras Schiffer

LMP is a party that is active in the field of ecopolitics, thus we think that it is very important to find our place within our poitical family in the EU, and also on a global level. Our aim is to belong to the Green movement, being critical about the process of globalization and furthering the aims of ecopolitics also at a European level. LMP is a relatively new party in Hungary and it is an important step in our "growing up" process to become able to host our European political allies in Hungary. It is obviously an excellent opportunity for LMP to be able to host our European political family, just like other Hungarian parties have done so in the past. I am convinced that this conference will raise awareness, and will contribute to enhancing our image in Hungarian politics. It extremely important for us that we can discuss with our European colleagues topics such as social inclusion, European Roma integration and environmental hazards, also because this latter one has been very topical recently. And in any case, due to Hungary's geographical location, ensuring environmental security is a top priority. We feel our share of responsibility inasmuch as we would like to highlight to EGP members the most relevant problems that the Central and Eastern European region is facing right now. We will aim to explain to our Western European allies the special socio-economic context that the region's Green parties and movements are operating in. Eventually, these are our hopes and expectations in relation to the Council meeting.
