September is "stamp-tember" here at Michaels,
and we're going to use stamps to upcycle this everyday lamp.
So I'm going to show you with stamps and some ribbon
how you can really personalize this sphere decor.
To begin, we're going to take just plain tissue paper,
and I chose white because it's going to match my lampshade
when we stamp on it.
Then you're going to choose your pattern for your stamp,
and I chose a paisley pattern that's going to match
really well with the rest of my room.
You want to use either a StazOn ink or an archival ink
because that's going to keep the ink from smearing
when we attach it to the lampshade later.
Now, here's a little trick.
If you actually hold your stamp pad in one hand
and then your ink pad in the other,
you can press it on your stamp and you're going to get
really good, even coverage this way.
Then you're going to press down on your tissue paper,
but remember to go straight down.
And when you're pressing your stamp,
do not rock the stamp.
You want to just apply with firm pressure
and make sure you get the whole stamp,
so you get an even pattern.
Then you want to lift straight up.
And there you go.
So you're going to go ahead and do this
all along your tissue paper.
And make sure that you do enough to cover your whole lampshade
because we're going to wrap it all around when it's done.
Then, once you've done that, you're going to cut out
the tissue paper with the pattern on it.
I've gone ahead and stamped a repeat pattern of my paisley.
I'm going to cut this out along the edge of the stamp.
Now you can use a ruler and a rotary cutter,
or you could use a pair of scissors
and trim along your stamp pattern.
Once we've cut our tissue paper out,
I'm going to go ahead and show you how to attach it
to our lampshade.
And we're going to actually use Mod Podge as our adhesive,
so we're going to use it to attach the tissue paper
to the lampshade,
and then we're going to use a coat to seal it
to the lampshade.
So go ahead and take your Mod Podge.
Now, remember, we used StazOn or archival ink
so it's not going to make the ink bleed
once you apply the Mod Podge.
So we're going to apply a coat
where you're going to lay your tissue paper down.
Then you're going to take your tissue paper
and you want to line it up evenly and straight.
You're going to press it down
and smooth out all the bubbles and the lines.
Then we're going to use the same Mod Podge,
and we're going to seal it on the lamp.
And don't worry, this is going to dry clear.
And if you work from the inside out,
it's going to help eliminate some of those bubbles and lines
in your tissue paper
There you go.
I would go ahead and I would do the other side of the lamp,
also, so it goes all around your lamp.
So we're going to let that dry.
And you can see here, here's a lamp I've already done.
Here's my tissue paper that I've stamped
and added to the lampshade.
And I've actually gone ahead and added
just a thin line of velvet ribbon,
using double-stick tape.
And I've actually used our silk screen stencils
and added a paisley pattern that matches the stamp pattern.
And for instructions on how to add the silk screen pattern,

The light through this tissue paper lampshade
is going to add a cozy look to my room this fall.
