>> So here we have the pull-up
and dip machine -- dip Nautilus machine.
And our demonstrator's gonna come in
and show us how to use it.
So first of all, when you come in and you see the pad
down at the bottom, that would be an unassisted pull-up.
So our demonstrator's gonna reach up and grab the handles,
and just do a couple pull-ups for us.
[ Silence ]
>> That's great.
Now most of us can't do an unassisted pull-up.
So what our demonstrator's gonna do is hold onto the seat --
or the knee pad, and pull the pin out,
and slowly release the knee pad up.
Okay. And then take that same pin, and take the pin
around to the side, and put it in the weights.
Now the pull-up machine is different
than any other machine, in that the more weight you put
on there, the more help you get, not the -- the harder it is.
Alright, so with the assisted pull-up, he's going to step
up on the little platforms.
[ Silence ]
>> And he's gonna reach up, put his hands
in the correct position --
they can be wide or they can be narrow, it's a little easier
with wide hands, put his knees on the pad,
and now he gets a little bit of help as he does his pull-ups.
[ Silence ]
>> Now when he goes to get off, he wants to make sure he's
in the up position as he goes to get off.
And he's gonna put his pad -- feet on the pad,
again on the feet pad.
When you're ready to do the dips, what you want
to do is push the handle forward.
[ Silence ]
>> And likewise, if you were to come in, and you were
to see the handle was forward, and you want to do the pull-ups,
you'll grab the handle and pull it back towards you.
[ Silence ]
>> Now he's gonna step up again.
And again, you can do the dips with no assistance,
or you can do 'em with some assistance.
And he's gonna put his knees on the pad, try to keep his body
in a very vertical position, and lower down, and up.
And not all of us can go as low as he can.
So even going down a little bit is good for the triceps,
or the back of the arms --
keep 'em from waving when we're done waving.
