Networking with Twitter Chats

It’s a beautiful day at Savvy Sexy Social because we’re talking about Twitter chats! What is a Twitter chat? Well if you can remember back in the day when we all used to like hop on AOL and get in the chat rooms and like meet people that we don’t know. It was a little creepier back then. Not really accepted. But now it is a very frequent form of networking on Twitter. See people will get together and follow a particular hashtag for whatever period of time around a specific topic. So if you wanted to learn about blogging, you would follow #blogchat. If you wanted to learn about horseback riding, there’s probably like a #horsechat. It really just depends on if there’s a Twitter running about whatever topic. You find out what the hashtag is, you find out when they meet every week, and then you follow along and chat. It’s a really great way to find new people who are interested in the same stuff as you. Great way to grow your following because of that. And you end up learning a lot about things you think you’re very versed on but you can hear what other people’s opinions other people’s forward thinking is about the topic. This is particularly great in marketing because as you’re learning about these different platforms like Facebook or video or whatever, you know that you need to be there but you might not know all the best strategies so every time there’s a new chat they’ll address something new about it and you always learn something you can implement. Speaking of Twitter chats, I’ve decided to start my own Twitter chat. This was inspired by #Blogchat which is on Sunday nights at 9pm EST. Mack Collier runs it and he does such a fantastic job and it has grown so much and I thought if I was gonna have a Twitter chat what would it be about? Well, it would probably be about video. So when I did some investigating, I checked out #vlogchat and guess what? No one’s using it so we’re going to. There’s a link in the description below. I have not started it yet. I’d like some input on the best times for you guys so that I can make sure I schedule a time that likely people will be able to attend and we will sort of wing it to see if it ends up being weekly or bimonthly, something like that. So definitely go fill out that poll, so that I know when you guys are available to talk about video. I know that you would enjoy learning about it because you keep watching these.
