The Takamatsu station, located at the Takamatsu City in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, is a terminal of JR Yosan Line and Kotoku Line.
The trains on the JR Dosan line and Seto-Ohashi line also arrive at and depart from Takamatsu station. So it plays a role as a key junction of the JR Shikoku.

The 4th Takamatsu station, completed in May 2001, is modern glass-fronted station building.
There are large station square and some large-scale facilities around redevelopment district, named "SUN PORT TAKAMATSU", in front of the station.
This "TAKAMATSU SYMBOL TOWER" is 151.3-meter tall building, which is the tallest building in Shikoku Island.
The Takamatsu-Chikko station on the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad (Kotoden) is located at about 200 meters east of the JR Takamatsu station.
The plan to rebuild the Kotoden railway line into elevated tracks and extend it to the renewed JR Takamatsu station was called off in 2010 because of financial trouble of Kotoden and Kagawa Prefecture.
At one time, Takamatsu station was connection of railway ferry between Shikoku and Honshu Island. So, Takamatsu station has stub tracks and bay platform. There is no difference in level on the floor from the station entrance to the platform.
Takamatsu station is rated highly for its grace and barrier-free construction. It earned the prize of Association of Railway Architects 2002 architectural design division and the prize of Barrier-Free Transportation.
About 360 trains connecting cities in Shikoku and Honshu Island, for example Matsuyama, Kochi, Tokushima, and Okayama, arrive at and depart from Takamatsu station.
Takamatsu station has a daily ridership of 13,215 passengers. So Takamatsu station is the busiest station in Shikoku.
