I do well here in Holland on the wet, also when I was in GP
with Rossi and Biaggi, I did quite well here.
The WCM bike wasn’t the strongest but I was able to hold my own on the wet
(the bike performed the same, whether on a dry or wet track!) so with lots of grip even in the wet I could do well.
They’ve ruined the track in that before there was very long straight
and you lost yourself in the curves, some of them blind, where you can’t see reference point.
I remember in 2004 when I was riding the WCM in GP and on the third lap I went down at 230km/h.
I’m sure my family thought they’d lost me, their rider,
but thankfully I’d only broken my ankle and I’m still here, now in Superbike with Ducati.
There are maybe two or three points of the track where you can make passes:
one is the last chicane
and one is tight corner after the long straight as you can pick up speed on straight
and if you brake for a bit longer, he has to go wide and let you pass through.
Just these two points of the track in fact, not three.
Ok I’m signing off now.
Assen isn’t one of my favourites but stay with us
here on Moto.it, because I love the next track,
where I won my first ever Superbike race… you’ll find out where soon! ciao
