PRESENTATION: Introduction to the video blog
Hi, for all those who don't know me
my name is Guillem Ferrer and
since December 19
I'm living in the Mae La refugee camp
on the border between Thailand and Myanmar
(also known as Burma) where more than
40.000 people live running away from
the Myanmar's civil war that started in 1948
when they became independent
from the British Empire and a military government
took over power.
Today is wednesday and the shirt I'm wearing
is the traditional Karen, which out of the Burma's
8 majority ethnics is the largest and on wednesdays
every Karen wears it
(Goodmorning in Karen language)
The next months
I'll be uploading to this YouTube channel
several videos to show
which feelings, thoughts and
how is the life in a refugee camp.
I'll also give ideas of how from home
you can, very easily, help this people
because it's estimated that the anual food cost for a refugee is
125$. It's not a lot of money, and all together we can make
a small act for us but that will mean a lot for this refugees
that needed so much and deserve it
because are the most kind and friendly people
that I've ever met.
If you have any question or doubt
don't hesitate to leave a comment below the video
In Thailand there are 7 refugee camps where more than
100.000 people live.
The biggest one is Mae La with more than
46.000 refugees.
