Hi, I'm Tristan McCauley from Lucky 7 Tattoo, and I'm here to tell you a little bit about
how to heal gauged ears. The first line of defense is a good antibacterial or antimicrobial
soap. What that does is it kills off the bacteria inside the gauge, around the earring, and
if it's...if it's open...an open wound, it'll bring out any bacteria from inside. What you
want to do is just lather it up in your hand with warm water, and just go around the outer
rim of it after you've removed your gauge and just massage it slowly in a circular motion
just for about five, six minutes. Then you want to let it sit for about 30 seconds just
so it can set in and break up any kind of bacteria. Then you want to rinse it. Rinse
it really well with warm water. That'll make sure it'll wash all the soap away. Leaving
that soap residue can irritate the skin and cause other problems. You also want to make
sure that you dry it really well. Not drying it well can lead to another...also can lead
to infections. It can irritate it. Other options are a saline solution, which is basically
purified salt water, or you can use a sea salt mixture of one tablespoon to a quarter
cup of warm water. You boil that, let it cool, and just soak your ear for about 15, 20 minutes
every day. And that is basically how to heal gauged ears.
