This disturbing video was obtained by Matthieu Aikins an investigative journalist based in
Afghanistan. It shows members of the Afghan National Army and what's thought to be interpreters
torturing a prisoner - whipping him repeatedly with what looks like a belt.
And they're doing it right under the noses of some unidentified US forces. It first appeared
on Afghan's social media pages but was obtained by Aikins who was reporting on war crime alleged
to have been committed by US Special Forces in Afghanistan for rolling stone. During the
video the prisoner tells his captors he will tell them anything they want. The International
Forces in Afghanistan are reportedly aware of the video and say that they're investigating
it further,
Aikins reports that US complicity in torture carried out by Afghan forces is widespread
alleging that soldiers would go for a smoke break to leave their Afghan national army
colleagues alone with their prisoners. A UN assistant's mission in Afghanistan report
also found that Afghan prisoners are still subjected to horrific abuses, torture and
ill treatment despite the huge amount of funding that is being poured into training local forces
during the war which has been going on for more than a decade.
