Hi, Phil with XenonSupply.com today we'll be installing HID lights on a 2005 Mazda 3
this install is compatible with all 2003-2008 Mazdas
let's go ahead and pop the hood, and get started
here are the tools you'll need to do the installation
you'll be a socket wrench
a 10mm socket
for the battery terminal
wire clippers
and the 8 zip ties included in the kit
now the kit we have here is a standard Xenon Supply kit available on XenonSupply.com
this is the H7 model for the Mazda 3 8000K it comes with
two ballast two bulbs wiring harness
and the mounting brackets
the first thing you want to do with any installation
is remove the negative battery terminal
to get access on this Mazda
you have to remove two plastic shrouds
there are two clips here covering the battery
push them out
remove the first shroud
there is normally a philips head screw right here
this has to be removed as well
once it is lift up
and pull this piece out
use the 10mm socket wrench to remove the negative battery terminal
what I like to do here
is take some painters tape
and cover that terminal so it does not make contact
with the battery while doing the installation
we're going to be removing the driver's side halogen bulb first
you have to take the wiring harness
press down on both sides and pull back
after that's been removed
there's a rubber shroud that has to be removed as well
go ahead and
grab one of the ends
and pull out
you now have access to the
H7 bulb
there should be on the very top side here
a wire clip that you can press down on
and push outward
and that should release the bulb
once that's been released
bring it back
and the bulb comes out
the passenger side is removed in a very similar fashion
press down on the wiring harness
pull back, and the clip should remove
there's the same rubber shroud
this has to be removed as well
now you have access to the bulb
there's the metal clip
right at the top here
pressed down
pushed outward
and should be able to get it out and there's your bulb
in order to mount the ballast inside the engine compartment we have to use the
mounting brackets and attach them to the ballast take the two metal pieces and connect
them together
and secure it with supplied nut and bolt
you'll be using a small philips head screwdriver
to secure this in place
go ahead and mount that second one as well
on some installations you'll need to save the grommet and use it as a spacer
while inserting the HIDs back into
your headlight I've gone ahead
and cut around
the grommet here
and making the last snip
to remove it from the wires
because the H7 has a small indentation here
you'll have to make up for it on the grommet that you're now using as a spacer
take a small chunk out
and now
the new spacer won't have
any clearance issues
we've gone ahead and mounted the ballast for the passenger side headlight
as you can see here we've used two of the zip ties mounted to the radiator wiring
harness
made sure its nice and snug
and remember to cut your ends
take the H7 bulb
and the space you made out of your grommet
and now you can reinsert back into headlight housing
the grounding wire here has to be facing down
take the wire
reapply it
over the bulb
and now push down and in inward
let it snap into place
make sure it's snug before putting the rubber shround back on
take the second part of your wiring harness the one with the two open leads
and connect it to
the stock OEM housing
the black wire goes to the black wire here
the orange wire goes the to red wire
you may want to take some electric tape
and tape this connection closed
once you're done
now take the longer of the wires here
and bring it all the way back to the ballast
make sure
you're plugging it in
make a good snap
give it a tug
make sure it's not coming out
the wires that we've brought over
are connecting
to these here
there's only one way you can do it you
can't mess it up
make sure you get a good snap
make sure you clean up your wiring
passenger side is done
we've gone ahead mounted the driver's side ballast between the
air box and the batter housing
you can see we've used the two zip ties and used the mounting bracket
I've gone ahead and wired this up
reconnected with black negative terminal to the battery
so let's go ahead and test these HIDss
