Hi everyone. Here we are with Fast & Furious 6 The Game.
Essentially
there's a new movie coming out for Fast and Furious
they're on the
sixth movie
can you actually believe that?
And this time they've decided to make a game.
Unfortunately
whilst you might think to yourself they were going to produce a really kick *** racing game,
with everything fast and furious
instead what they've done is produced a quick time
game is the best way I can kind of describe it.
It's basically cars on rails
and at certain points during the gameplay
you will have to
do an action
in order to not screw up.
It's ok, the graphics are ok as you're going to see
but the gameplay does feel a little bit limited.
A free to play title, in-app purchases
but, you know, I'm not sure this is going to keep people's interest
for very long. So to start with there's a countdown and we have to hit the launch button at just the right time to get
our perfect boost
then we have to put our finger down here and we have to shift at the right moment.
This will be familiar for anyone who's ever done any kind of racing games.
And then I have to go into drift mode. So when I go across here I have to hit the drift button
and perform drift. But this car is not under my control as such, all I'm doing is
triggering actions at the right moment, quick time events effectively.
Get it right and you'll gain
bonus points and speed, screw it up
and I'm afraid you will lose. Oops! Like that.
Ooh, I think I just beat him!
Just just, just beat him.
So that is in essence what
Fast & Furious 6 is all about. As a game,
there's not a lot here to excite people. The graphics look great
and the gameplay is reasonable for what it's offering
but it just feels slightly limited.
Let's have a look at a drag challenge
which is very much just a case of shift shift shift, hit at the right moment.
Very limited as you might imagine
but, you know,
that's a great game here. It's just a shame that they kind of took the easy way out
I think more than anything else
instead of giving us a real fast and furious
game, they've given us some sort of weird set of touch
events instead which is just a real pity I think.
Obviously I think time constraints may have played a part here
there's only so many hours in a day I suppose that you can produce games but even so
I would much rather have seen a full on racing title
worthy of the
name Fast & Furious than
this strange kind of
quicktime event,
driven thing.
I certainly hope we don't see many more racing games come out like this because
it kind of isn't very racing,
which is a shame but it's free to play.
If you're looking for something to do this weekend and you're a bit bored,
check it out, you never know, you might find something more here than I found but
for my mind it's just quick time events in a car racing formula.
That's about it.
