Guardian - Only 1% of snowden documents published

The Washington Post is reporting that only one percent love this snowed in documents have been published by the Guardian the Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger said yesterday that his decision to publish a series of articles based on Edward Snowden's leaks were absolutely the correct thing to do he says that is part of press freedoms it is part of democracy to publish those items and he also said that the Guardian has only published about 1 percent above the fifty eight thousand files that they got from Edward snowden he did say I wouldn't expect this to book to be publishing a huge amount more and then at the hearing respirator also said that while they were pup publishing all of these documents they want just haphazardly publishing stuff that they were in contact with both American and British intelligence services and that they were a in fact in touch more than a hundred times and they were really being careful consulting and he indicated they would continue to consult those groups however they are going to be put off by intimidation and they are also aren't going to be behaving recklessly at the same time Telegraph UK is saying that employees have the Guardian could face criminal charges based on having published these leaked documents from Edward snowden and did there are detectives from Scotland Yard reportedly checking into whether crimes were committed by those publishing the documents where are you right now Lewis under snowden documents as I said many times Chelsea Manning exposing crimes where is Edward snowden exposing policies he and others don't like but are are legal according to to the law you may have a problem with that law but but he did not expose any crimes right I am but who knows if we've only seen one percent of those documents well maybe their crimes in in the other documents a and what's the point of holding on to them I is just because you're worried about the consequences if we see them will you have to you have to assume Lewis is a combination right there are some it let's talk about the 99 percent right at the documents that are left some love those are probably not newsworthy so those you're not going to publish some of those may contain it truly sensitive information at the level that it may actually harm people if it is published so those as they say they're not going to act recklessly they're not going to publish those so then you have to look at what's left what is newsworthy but also would not in danger or jeopardized the safety of people around the world and maybe that that subset imagine that then diagram so to speak maybe there are other reasons why why they are not publishing or maybe there's just not much left that is both newsworthy and doesn't put people at risk if the one percent was was the media best well then that was pretty pathetic I but I don't know I think when you when you become the steward something like this you you just put it all out there I I I dunno I don't know how I would feel honestly if is hurt people if people were hurt or armed or compromised by information there is in this document yeah but Lewis think about think about WikiLeaks they'll write even WikiLeaks which was exposing crimes that were revealed in the documents Chelsea Manning handed to them even they took care to not publish have had haphazardly and to redact are to the documents where it was it necessary in order to keep people safe so I don't know that I agree with you that the that that as that that it to do journalism you should just publish it all I think part of the curation is actually part of journalism well what about from stowed inside I mean did he take it he carefully pick all these documents or did he just a call he could get I mean did he pick these things because he thought they were all important and everyone needs to know about them maybe we don't know but I would guess no I mightn't if I had to guess I would say that he said I'm gonna take as much as I can because I probably will not have access to the stuff once the first if it leaks and then will review later what is news that newsworthy in what is could be I just the you know I wish we knew what was in there and baby I don't know maybe we think differently about this whole thing if it's something we're in there that were on par with what Chelsea Manning Lee send your thoughts on this 2192 David P is our voicemail number call at any time of day we will take a break the bonus show today David Pakman dot com slash membership hosted and produced by producer Louis just one of many supporter benefits check that
