Is Paleo Diet Good for Diabetics?
The paleo diet follows a simple mantra: eat whatever ancient man ate before.
That means fruits and vegetable are okay.
So are lean meats, seafood, nuts, seeds and healthy fats.
It also means avoiding dairy, grains, processed foods and sugars, legumes, starches and alcohol.
Because of the way the diet is planned, the foods that mess with blood sugar the most are removed.
The removal of refined sugars means you won't have to use too much insulin.
And your body can start using the remaining lower levels more efficiently.
The blood sugar balance you'll achieve means you'll feel less hungry.
And you'll have fewer cravings, too.
You'd lose weight without having to worry about wreaking havoc to your glucose levels.
But What About Type 1 Sufferers?
Well, type 1 diabetes or T1D is an autoimmune disease.
This means the cells that produce insulin are destroyed by an autoimmune attack.
Without insulin shots, sugar levels will be severely elevated and will eventually cause death.
Fortunately, going primal seems to be helpful with T1D, too.
If sufferers avoid gluten, get enough vitamin D and sleep and keep the carbs low, positive results are possible.
So is paleo diet good for diabetics?
The answer is still YES, for both kinds, too.
