Hi, this is Ha Bui with GolfSwingFitTips.com, and today weíre going to go over a single
leg balance drill, this is theÖthis will help benefit your golf swing in making sure
youíre standing in controlled balance throughout your golf swing. So, the first variation is
being able to do it on the ground first. So, you want to basically pick a leg, pick one
leg up and then make sure youíre able to balance on one leg. Do both sides, try to
hold it as long as you can for if you go TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) test you
want to hold for at least twenty-five seconds and thatís normal. So try to hold it with
your eyes closed, thatís the test, but if you canÖfirst you want to start with your
eyes open first and then balance and switch to the other leg. Then from there, if you
try, have your eyes closed while youíre on the ground, thatís another proprioceptive
or awareness challenge for your body to have that sensitivity in changing the way that
the balance of your body. So thatís one variation.
The other variation isÖwhich is more challenging, once you are able to complete and do well
in on the ground while you have your eyes closed, is being able to perform it on the
Bosu ball. There is one version where you can be on the bottom of the Bosu ball where
youíre on the flat side and then Iíll show you the next time, after Iíve performed this
one is on the ball side. So, make sure youíre at a place where you hold on, then you step
on, just to get you that support, just to get going and then from there you want to
try balance on one leg, okay, without wobbling as much. Okay, and then do the same thing
on the other side, switch feet, make sure youíreÖone the foot that youíre balancing
on is close to being on the center of the ball on there. So, you see my left side, I
need to work on my left side, there.
So, once you get that conquered, thatÖperforming pretty well for youÖthen the next step is
to flip the ball over and then step on it and that, being on the ball, makes it more
wobbly, unstable and so if you need to, you may kind of have to work your way up by holding
onto this surface right here, so I guess you just kind of work your way up to where youíre
not wobbling as much on here. So itís kind of just touch and go until you can control
it all the way through.
So, this is going to challenge your co-ordination and your balance a little more, I wouldÖby
starting with the ground first and the work with you guys to see how long you go, then
go on to the flat surface of the Bosu ball and then back up on the dome, the advanced
version on there. This is Ha Bui, GolfSwingFitTips.com, please visit our YouTube channel and add us
