Numbers 238, 89, and 186, please, stand up.
You're in. Congratulations.
I was really young when I started.
I come from a family of musicians.
I started singing when I was 11, and at the age of 15 I sang with my parents.
I took part in bands...
...I've sent lots of demos, but I haven't been lucky.
Have you ever recorded something?
Yes, I've recorded some demos.
But you've never released any CD...
No, I did something with musicians from Mallorca...
...which is the place I come from.
Now I sing in the show of the Casino of Mallorca.
Can you play any instrument?
I took some piano lessons, but to be honest, I forgot them.
What do you like the most? Which is your favourite genre?
I respect all genres, I mean, I like all of them...
...but my favourite ones are r'n'b, hip hop, funky...
...and all that kind of music.
I also like latin music, which is now in fashion.
Ok, thanks a lot.
We hope you're lucky in the next stage. Congratulations.
Laura, Valencia, 89. Alex, Barcelona, 159.
Alex, Laura, Miguel, Israel.
Israel, why are you rolling your eyes?
What's wrong?
Are you going home?
¡No!
We have to tell you that-- of course you're in.
Have you cried a lot?
Yeah. It's been exciting. Crying while singing "Oh, Happy Day"...
...really matched.
What a sorrow...
Are you ready to work?
Well, I consider myself...
My job, singing...
I think I am a hard-working person...
...there are many good competitors...
...and I am very demanding of myself.
At times even too self-critical...
...and that's no good because it hurts.
But that's why I'm here, to get my self-esteem back.
Yeah, it's true. For me it's more important than winning.
Imagine you are in the academy...
...and we say we don't like your dark hair...
...that you'd look better fair-haired.
Do it, go ahead. I'm just 26.
Would you dye you hair?
Yeah.
What about wearing a miniskirt?
Well, as far as it flatters me...
Although I prefer covering my legs and showing off the upper body.
That is not a problem for me...
...as far as it's done with respect...
...and it fits me.
What about the repertoire?
Do you mean the music? Oh, yeah.
Would you sing everything? Do you have any qualm?
No, I haven't. I've even sung "La Cucaracha."
It's so funny...
I wasn't born here, but I'm from Spain, I'm Spanish.
I came here when I was 8, and I live in Mallorca...
...I'm from Mallorca, I feel really close to the island.
But all my family is far away.
They're far away. You feel lonely.
Where are they?
In Argentina.
Can they come?
What about your parents, your brothers o sisters?
My parents and my brother live here.
But my grandparents are there.
And you love them.
They are on their own.
And all my family-- There's no money there...
...there's nothing, so we have to struggle hard here...
...to send money there.
And you can't buy a ticket to go there...
...because sending some money it's better.
So we stay here, trying to keep going with our lifes.
When in Christmas people say things like...
"What a pain! I have to go to my uncle's..."
I always say, "I wish I had uncles to spend Christmas with."
Because we're 4 or 5 people, and we really love each other...
...but you never value what you have got.
Until you lose it.
That's why my friends are also my family.
I've felt betrayed many times...
...due to my idea of friendship, because I'm very close to them...
...but that feeling is not reciprocal.
And I withdrew into myself.
So I might look confident and defiant, but I'm not like that.
Laura, you can go out and fight. You're one of the 24 finalists.
-Thank you. -Congratulations.
-Congratulations. -Congratulations.
Yeah, I'm in.
Laura.
María Laura, after many deliberations, the jury has decided that you are...
...one of the 16 contestants chosen to go into the academy...
...and take part in Operación Triunfo.
Thank you. I'm sorry for those who are not in.
They are all great. I'm really sorry. I'm sorry.
I'm very happy. Thanks a lot to everybody.
We were sure you would be here.
