The New River Center for Energy Research and Training,
a division of Community Housing partners located in Christiansburg VA
performed an energy audit on the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in
March of 2012.
The grounds contained two separate buildings
the Worship & Education Center and the Parish Life Center.
A number of diagnostic tests were performed to scientifically diagnose
the possible issues in the buildings.
The energy auditors were looking for specific issues
pertaining to the health and safety,
comfort, durability, and energy efficiency of the buildings.
A multipoint blower door test was performed to see air leakage in the building.
Smoke tests were performed to see the air movement.
Duct diagnostic tests to see air movement balance.
Combustion analysis on the boiler and natural gas furnaces for efficiency and safety.
And detailed visual inspections were also performed.
Nothing was missed during the inspection.
After the inspection the NRCERT auditing team performed utility bill
analysis and began modeling the buildings.
All the tests showed how the building is currently performing,
and have allowed suggestions on the future steps that can be taken
to improve Luther Memorial Luther Church's building energy performance.
