Napier Man Shot Dead by Police Named as Lachan Kelly - Tumarae

Police have named the person who was shot dead in Hastings this morning
as Lachan Kelly-Tumarae aged 19.
Trouble broke out in Maraenui, Napier, which ended in Fernhill.
According to police,
Tumarae was seen standing next to a vehicle in Maraenui
and when police approached him he pulled a gun.
Tumarae took off on his vehicle and was pursued by police.
When they reached this street, Tumarae exited the vehicle
and raised his gun again.
Police say shoots were exchanged, but only Tumarae was killed.
Resuscitation began immediately after, but to no avail.
A police review will now be conducted.
Tumarae is currently undergoing autopsy.
