Our mind keeps evoking desires in us.
If we fulfil them, we shall be happy.
Because what is mind? If one desire is fulfilled,
it will send another one. Once that is fulfilled,
we would like to have something else.
When man was poor,
he thought that if he got a bicycle,
it would be great. Once, he got a bicycle,
he aspired for a scooter. Once, he had a scooter ,
he wanted a car.
Gradually our desires keep increasing.
In the beginning, when we get something
we feel very happy. But after sometime,
we get used to it.
Then, we feel that as we already have this;
now is the time to get something else.
Hence, desires of mankind never get fulfilled.
People who remain busy fulfilling their desires,
are never successful in life.
We have to reach the state
in which we have no internal desires.
Buddhism spreads the teachings of Mahatma Buddha.
One of the teachings of Mahatma Buddha
is that ‘Be Desireless’.
In the process of fulfilling our desires,
we walk towards our own graves .
While life just passes us by,
if we look back at our lives,
all the desires we had and their fulfilment;
we realize that it did not give us happiness.
Something else kept cropping up and our attention
was diverted towards it.
So saints repeatedly explain
that we should not adapt ourselves with the
highs and lows of our lives.
If the things are happening well today,
we get very happy and tomorrow if the things
are not happening as per our wishes, we get unhappy.
We should be in equipoise, so that we are stable
with the ups and downs of external life.
This should not influence our real life.
We should be at peace in our inner self.
Who will be peaceful on the inner side?
The one who is connected with the word of God.
Only that person will be peaceful in his inner-self,
who is in a stable position.
The only person in a stable condition would be one
who is connected with two forms
of God– light and sound because it is timeless.
It is never going to change
while other things keep changing.
If we look within,
the sound current flowing inside us, we will be
able to connect ourselves with it.
If we are able to connect ourselves with it,
it is permanent. It runs ceaselessly,
twenty four hours a day, seven days a week,
every month, every year.
It never stops, never needs a downtime
and nor does it ever develop a fault.
The problem lies in our instrument,
if we are unable to catch it,
because it is being transmitted
from its source continuously.
God has infused it in every atom,
and whosoever gets connected to it, remains stable.
Whosoever is unable to connect to it,
faces turmoil in his life.
Hence, Sant Surdas Ji Maharaj is explaining to us
through various examples that if you give
us a lot of food to eat, it is all right;
even if you keep us hungry and thirsty,
it is also okay. It is all right,
if you make us ride an elephant.
Even if you make us ride a donkey, it's okay.
Irrespective of the state you keep us in,
we should remain in your remembrance
and our focus should be on you.
Then only we can reach our final destination.
In the end, Sant Surdas Ji Maharaj states,
‘ Lotus eyed, Lord Krishna;
with your benovelent grace,
keep Surdas at your feet.'
Oh God Almighty, you are very kind,
gracious, let my attention stay with you.
I remain at your lotus feet,
keep me as your true disciple.
May your grace be on me forever,
and I am able to spend my entire life
at your lotus feet.
This is a prayer of a disciple
yearning for a life at the lotus feet of God.
Even if we cannot see God in his physical form;
He is present in each and every particle.
Through this verse, a prayer is being made,
that we should stay close to our Master.
Why should we stay in proximity of our Master?
Because when we stay close to Him,
attend His satsangs, remain around Him,
His benevolent glance falls on us
and the veil of illusions begins to lift.
Thus, it is explained to us time and again,
that we should come to have
the darshan of our Master.
The divine rays being emitted through His eyes,
penetrate through the finery
to reach the depth of our soul,
to stimulate the soul to search for God.
When His benevolent glance will fall on us,
our attention will be diverted towards God Almighty.
What is the meaning of satsang?
To link ourselves with truth.
When we are in the proximity of Him,
He takes our attention towards God Almighty
so that we understand that we are not far
from God Almighty.
He is sitting within us;
we only have to look in our inner world.
Hence, he has called God,
‘ Lotus eyed, Lord Krishna‘
He is calling his Master lotus-eyed,
because His eyes are like a lotus.
He cites the example of a lotus because the lotus
flower grows in muddy water
and yet floats on top of it.
Similarly, in spite of living in this world
of illusions, Master is above it.
Even if there is a filth around Him,
a web of illusions is all around Him,
He stays above it all. He is different
and that is why He can help us.
One who is stuck in muck, how will he help us?
That is what the analogy of 'lotus eyes'
has been written here.
There are many words which are written,
and only when their deeper meaning is understood
would we be able
to understand what they imply.
When he states that the ' Lotus eyes',
he is admiring the eyes of his Master,
who lives in the world of illusions
and is able to remain above the filth of illusion.
May I remain His faithful servant,
remain at His lotus feet to serve Him.
My devotion is for Him because it is only
through Him that I can reach you.
So how do I find a path to attain God?
By reaching the lotus feet of a complete saint.
So he explains how he should live like a servant,
staying in his close proximity,
so that I keep receiving the truth
and my attention remains focused towards it;
taking step after step towards my destination.
Only then will I be able to reach you.
This is the prayer being made here.
We are all very fortunate
that we have had the opportunity
to be at the Lotus feet of the Saints
of the last century,
Hazur Baba Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj,
Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj
and Dayal Purush Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj.
All those brothers and sisters who have
complete faith in their Master will definitely
reach their destination
and will reach their quickly.
Once we get the gift of initiation
from a complete Saint, we will definitely
reach our destination. But, how fast depends on us;
What kind of life we live? How we live?
Where all do we focus our attention?
It all impacts our inner journey.
He is always there to help us,
but how many brothers and sisters take advantage
of it in the correct manner?
The manner in which we adopt his support
in our lives depends upon us.
Hence, Sant Surdas Ji Maharaj explains
the basics in a few words,
' I shall live the way you keep me.'
He states that one should
prevent turmoil in one's life.
If you remain happy and blissful in every state,
you will definitely reach your destination.
In order for that to happen,
we should have faith in God Almighty.
One who has faith in God Almighty,
whose focus is towards God Almighty,
will know all that is happening in his life
is for the better.
He will not face any turmoil in his life.
When there is no turmoil he will remain calm;
one who is calm will be able
to focus his mind within .
He will be able to repeat God's name well;
his spiritual practices
will also be good and effortless.
He will be able to rise above his body
and embark on the inner journey.
He will be able to soar in the inner realms
with his Master, where he shall reach
the Radiant form of the Master.
He will take his disciple
from the Physical plane, through the Astral,
Causal, Super Causal planes to Sachkhand.
All the veils of the Physical, Astral, Causal,
Super Causal bodies will lift and we will reach
our pure state, where we will be immersed
in our Master who will immerse us in God Almighty
We have come to this world with the goal
of uniting our soul with God.
Today, as we have gathered here in Kirpal Bagh,
I pray at the lotus feet of God Almighty;
to the Saints of the previous century,
Hazur Baba Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj,
Pram Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj,
and Dayal Purush Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj.
They may make us realize our true calling,
our attention should remain focussed
on God Almighty, so that the goal
for which we have all come;
to unite our soul with God gets fulfilled.
