What can you tell us about the new cd?
We love it. Who's next?
It's a really good cd, it has different kinds of track on it, some stuffs are heavy, some stuffs are not quite as heavy. It's another
release from Megadeth, old releases are never the same, in this band they have never been. It's kinda cool to do something
different. Anyway, we love it.
Are you 100% satisfied?
I am, yeah, absolutely.
I think whatever you are going to start creatively and musically, you just have to go along with it, you got to believe in what
you're doing, otherwise. In the moment we started recording, we all believed in what we were doing.
"Supercollider" received controversial reviews, and many considered it a flop, why, in your opinion?
Honestly? Because it's diverse. If you get the typical Megadeth fan, might be like "I don't know about the cd, but the thing is,
I don't want every track to sound like the same track twice". People who really dug that and understood this diversity, they
liked to hear various songs and variations, the others, no. People don't want to hear the same song twice.
How did the collaboration with David Draiman from Disturbed start?
I can't really speak about that.
Before we started recording, David Draiman came to the studio. Then we went over some ideas and he just started singing
parts in our songs, that's simple.
Did you like this collaboration?
Yeah, it was cool!
Is there any kind of message in this album?
No, it's just a bunch of good heavy metal songs, I don't think there is a hidden message, it's not a concept album.
Why did you choose "Supercollider" as a title? Does it have something to do with Higgs' Boson experiment?
I really love studies about Higgs' Boson and the Collider in CERN and stuff like that, I think it's cool, but honestly, you have to
ask Dave personally. For what I know about him, I'd like to think that he wrote songs with many different intentions and you
can listen to these songs as different stories.
This is the first album you release with your own label. Was songwriting influenced by it? Did you feel more free to do
whatever you want?
As Shawn said before, every CD is different from another, everytime we record
something, it's a total different process, so I am sure that next record will be different as well, but it was great to be able to
bring our ideas to the table and working on Megadeth sound, it was awesome.
How difficult is it to imagine a metal world that goes on without Dimebag Darrell and Jeff Hannemann?
I mean, for me it's very hard. Everytime I take a CD, this might be special for the guitars. In my case, Dimebag played a great
influence on me, as well as Hannemann. I think we will miss Dimebag, but I also think that there are so many great musicians
who will carry their flame and their memories.
What's the craziest thing that a fan ever made to you?
I don't know, I guess giving me many gifts!
I had this girl in Phoenix, who came and asked me a hairlock, because she wanted to clone me, and she was so sure to do
that with a hairlock... All right!
Thanks!
Thank you guys!
