If you’re a college student, chances are you’re paying fees to your student government
association. How well do you know the students who are spending your money?
The EveryVote Facebook app is designed to help improve campus engagement and voter turnout
in any university election. Your organization can use EveryVote for free to help your student
body learn about, share their opinion on, and interact with their candidates over Facebook.
And since 96% of US college students use Facebook, EveryVote is a powerful tool for candidates
to raise awareness for their campaign.
To get started, type EveryVote in your search bar, and click the app. In order to work,
EveryVote will only ask for your basic info, your profile picture, and the ability to share
election pages to your wall at your request.
Once you log in you can type your university name, select your election, and begin browsing
the page.
At the top here is the election infobox. This is a convenient place to learn about election
events, voting days, polling locations, registration requirements, and any other information.
Below the infobox you can find every student who has made a candidate profile using the
app. At any time you can express public support or disapproval of candidates using these buttons.
And to help increase voter turnout, we recommend you share your university’s election page
using this button.
For the sake of fairness, candidates by default are presented in random order, but you can
also view them by the date they’ve joined, alphabetically, or who has the most votes.
Or you can view them by the office they’re running for using this pulldown.
Click the name or picture of a candidate to view their profile, and learn what their plans
are if they’re elected to office.
Down here you can see the names of everyone who is supporting or opposing this candidate,
and you can leave a public question or comment using this button.
And last, if you’re a candidate and you want to share your platform using EveryVote,
just click the Run for Office button in the top-right corner, select the office you want
to run for, and explain why you think you’re the best for the job.
To raise awareness for your campaign, you’ll probably want to share your profile to your
Facebook wall, and ask your friends to do the same.
And that’s pretty much it! Feel free to test it out by visiting EveryVote University,
and checking the Sample Election or Historical Figures page. If you have any questions or
comments please click the Contact EV button under the logo, or email contactus@everyvote.org.
