Eve you are worth the wait
Adam laid and waited while God sedated him and created Eve from his rib cage, she was named a woman
not because she was a woe to man but because she's woven from man
Imagine Eve, so beautiful the first time that adam seen he spit poetry:
"This is at last bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh", see
Adam realized something profound, she is not just mine, she is me
A beautiful and suitable counterpart to do her part and
I like to believe that Eve was made from the rib cage to protect the heart, see
Eve you are worth the wait
Like Abraham, should avoid it for Sarah, I should avoid it for you
Instead of hagging with those hagars
I'm done trying to rush God
and being tempted to twist His promisses with quick fixes with mistresses, I'm done
I'll wait
But don't mistake this patience for passiveness, see
Too many of us do, just sitting in our rooms, thinking to ourselves:
"I wonder if she likes me"
"I don't know... Maybe I'll talk to her, maybe I won't"
"I like affection, I just don't like rejection"
Yo man, be man
But so is what we do
I'm just saying I'll be purposely patient like
Jacob waited for Rachel
because I'm trying to marry you, not just date you
I'm looking past the present, I'm looking far to take it farther I wanna marry his daughter
Like Jacob told Rachel's father He was willing to wait seven years times two
yo
fourteen years is a long time to do but
Rachel, you are worth the wait.
Or maybe I should compare you to Ruth
See, Ruth and Boaz is not just some scenar' of a love story
but a glimpse into Christ redemption,
Through Him we are born again like Boaz married Ruth so they could bear children, see
I want us to build a legacy through your pregnancy
you are the pathway to a multigenerational destiny, that's crazy, right?
That is not just our children that you'll bring life, but our children's children, and their children
and their children's children so Ruth that makes you worth the wait, like
King Solomon waited 'till after thirty installments of proverbs to get to the last chapter
and I avoided almost thirty chapters of my life to get to proverbs thirty one in the tenth verse:
"Who can find a virtuous woman who's worth this far beyond rubies who will do me good and not evil
all the days of my life" and I will do the same for you because
proverbs thirty-one woman you are worth the wait and I will never want to defoul you
So we'll wait to make love until we both stay in front of that preacher and say I do
And until there I continue to say I do, I do still wanna wait for you
because, you are worth more than any weight of priceless gems
you are worth more than any weight of priceless gems
your body is a temple so it's through that temple, I will worship Him
and until then we won't give in to sex because
I want our honeymoon to be more than just finding good deals on hotel prices and plane tickets on the internet
see it's much more than that
It is the beggining
of a beautiful display of the gospel
a story of love, and pain, and setbacks, and grace, some pride, but a whole lot of forgiveness
Cold shoulders and hot tempers, imperfection but redemption for two sinners
just trying to resemble the gospel
and through it all, the good and the drama, I still want you to be my wife, my best friend,
my prayer partner and my "baby mama" because you are worth the wait
But more than you being worth the wait
more than you being worth the wait
Christ is worth our submission...
Christ is worth our submission
He submitted Himself to the will of His father to be beaten for the enmity
started in the garden of Eden
The fruit that was eaten from a tree
and the World waited centuries for that sins to be put back on a tree
Christ was worth the wait since Genesis three
And He, thought you, were the worth the weight of your sins, on His body
your thorns on His head, your worth is found in the blood that He bled
He gave His body on the cross, so you don't have to give up your body in the bed
until we're wedded girl I'm waiting
I'm waiting
Girl, we ain't getting in undercovers
Until we are under covenant
See, it's only in a covenant
that we can enter in this intimate communion
it's only in a covenant
That we can take communion
And my body, be given to you
My love, poured out for you
And we do this, in rememberance of the day we gave up our independence
when two became one, ironically a couple becomes a single, a profound mistery, a mathematical paradox
worth waiting to see
you are worth the wait
And even when we're married, you'll still be worth the wait
like
when I be at the doors with keys in my hands ready to go
and you're still in the room putting make up on your face
and then you rush out the room and say: "I'm sorry I made us late", and I'll look at you and say:
"No it's cool, you were worth the wait"
My, help me to... please help me to continue to see that you will always, always be
worth the wait
