Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday
Have a happy birthday!
Today's tutorial is dedicated to my friend Haniela
Happy birthday Hani! Here are some hippos for you!
I first saw this stencil
Semi-Sweet Mikes blog he made some awesome Valentine's Day cookies
and I had a brainstormed and I needed to go out and buy it, it is
somewhat pricey as far as stencils go.
But if this work
it could be lots of fun
all we need is the hole section, and I'm going to be placing my
template on it.
I'm going to tape it to secure it in place
and now we're going to use this
to airbrush the cookie, this technique is going to work better if you use colors
that
complement each other, mixing airbrush colours can be tricky
if the colours don't complement each other you will get a muddy colour
Let's say you were to use brown and
blue just wouldn't work. But purple and blue that works
pink and purple also good.
I am covering my whole cookie with the stencil
I have the paper to shield the rest to the cookie from the
overspray
Now what we're gonna do is we're gonna cut the template up.
We will use these parts to protect our pink base colour areas from the second colour.
Now I'm going to
reposition these portions of my template to mask the areas I wish to keep in my base colour.
you can just
with a little tape just
secure them once you've done the first color
The paper is actually sticking
to the hairbrush residue but if you want to be sure they don't move use a little tape.
now his toes
Now my second layer stencil is ready for the second colour.
This will shield or protect the first colour
Now I'm going to reposition the stencil
don't really worry about that the
dots lining up
worry more about the hippo parts lining up
making sure that like his feet and his the belly area are in the right place.
Now for the second colour I'm using purple.
I'm gonna be using my KopyKake to transfer the design. If you want to know about a KopyKake you can click the hippo for that video.
I had photocopied my hippo before I had cut him up
and now I'm going to project him onto
the cookie. I'm trying to transfer that projected image onto my cookie but I can
see it warped during baking.
I'll have to move it
around to get the template to fit
I'm starting with his
or her nose.
I don't know if you can see the projected line but it's there
now the nostrils
now a few little hairs and the teeth
now we can finish the jaw
Now I'll move it up a little bit for the foot to line up
some wrinkles and toes
and we're gonna move the cookie
working on the hind leg
now the tail is resting on the hind quarters
now we'll close up the belly
adjusting the position again
around the eye & ears, both of them and the other
eyebrow and eyes
The dots make it a bit tricky to see
the design
I forgot the back toes
And there it is
