Today we prepare a lovely cradle for a teddy bear.
prepare a certain amount of colored dough, blue or pink
With a rolling pin roll out the dough to a thickness of about 4 - 5 mm
the cradle
is heart shaped
so we have to get a cookie cutter of this shape
The size of the cutter will depend on the final size of the cradle
Since we'll need two heart forms
it will be useful to calculate the amount of dough to lay out
once this is done
cut the two hearts needed to assemble the cradle
after removing the hearts from the dough
make a cut at the base of the heart
using a smooth-bladed knife or blade
the cut
must be enough to allow the cradle to stand
but at the same time should not be too deep
with a knife stretch the ends of the hearts
and now
allow the two hearts to dry
because we can use them only when they are ready for our cradle
remember that the dough, once dried
will look slightly darker than the still damp dough
with the same dough, pink or blue
roll out another sheet of dough
of about 4-5 millimeters
from which you cut out a rectangle for the mattress
of the cradle
even in this case the size depends on the size of the cradle
we are preparing
here we have a length of approximately 7 cm
to cut more precisely the rectangle
we can use a ruler
the mattress will be allowed to dry, too
after the parts are ready and dry
arrange a stand in order
to hold up the parts to put together
until they are fixed and dry
in this case
I took a piece of polystyrene
but you can as well use a small box or something else
this stand must be neither too high nor too low
to better stick the parts, prepare a small roll of dough
apply it at the back of the mattress
and arrange it
just against the headboard
set the mattress
and one of the heart
over the stand we have prepared
in case you can use vinyl glue
given that this glue
will be transparent when dry
anyhow
it will be hidden
by the quilt
or the pillow
do the same on the other side of the bed
and arrange everything
on the stand you have prepared
allow to dry completely, in order to fix everythig
allow to dry completely, in order to fix everythig
once the cradle is dry
we can begin to prepare the blanket
take some white dough and roll it out with a rolling pin
cut out a rectangle with the right size
the blanket will be a bit wider
than the cradle
because it will have to fall to the sides
check that it is big enough
our intention is to make a patchwork blanket
with a smooth blade knife
draw some squares
that we will paint afterwards
now we put the teddy bear in the cradle
put a little piece of dough under the blanket
so it looks like the body of the bear
prepare now
a small pillow
on which the bear will rest his head
let's make a small cylinder
pinch the corners and engrave with a toothpick
arrange also the place for the bear's head
using the brown dough
prepare a ball that will become the bear's head
verify
that the size is suited to the bed
with the inevitable toothpick mark
the eyes approximately at the center of the head
unlike the face of dolls in which the eyes are
placed lower
do not go too deep, other wise the eyes will not look nice
with some slightly paler dough
prepare a small disc that will form the front face
always with a toothpick
mark the mouth
at last, with a small piece of darker dough
make a small ball
for the nose
now for the ears
use two equal balls
and apply them
to the sides of the head
with the help
of a
toothpick
now we just have to put the teddy bear to sleep
to reproduce the patchwork use watercolors with light colors
to your taste
if desired we can also make little drawings and flowers on the blanket
with contrasting colors
or acrylic white
with a fine brush
paint the eyes
and possibly reinforce the color of the nose
the same cradle can be created in sugarpaste
for the cake of a birth or a baptism
salt dough or other material but allowing
various pieces dry beforeassembling
