Hey.
I only got five minutes, so I guess I better speed it up, huh.
Hello. My name is Heather, and I'm a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.
I come from Georgia, which is the Peach State.
I'm an animator, and I do a lot of my own animations in Flash.
I've done a number of Flash animations over the last few years, including this one.
When I'm not animating, in-between projects I like to draw.
And my favorite thing to draw is, well, this guy: Sonic the Hedgehog.
I've been a Sonic fan for a long time now,
Instead of just telling you how I became a fan, let me draw it out for you.
The year was Nineteen Ninety-Three.
That was a very good year, because that was when my absolute favorite Sonic game came out.
I was a young, impressionable little girl with nerdy-looking glasses.
I used to watch cartoons a lot, and my two favorites were
the Saturday Morning Sonic and The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, which came on after school on weekdays.
For Christmas that year I wanted a Genesis, and the main reason was because of this demo
I had seen of Sonic Spinball at a toy store, and something about seeing Sonic fall into the water like that,
it kinda touched off something in me.
I'm not really sure what it was, maybe I felt like I really needed to help him out.
Nooo, Sonic, I'll save you!
I did get a Genesis that year, and it came with Sonic 2. I soon learned just how hard this game was when I got to, well...
*grunting* Dangit! Argh! DAAAAAAAAAH!!
A few months later, I discovered the Archie comic book about Sonic, and
my collection started with #13 with the Sonic 3 story, and...
well... it's kind of grown since then.
Some people are probably wondering, what's so great about Sonic?
Here's five reasons why I think he's awesome.
First thing should be the obvious thing, this guy can break the sound barrier just by running.
Sometimes he's even outrunning the camera. When you're playing a Sonic game,
sometimes you get this little high just from how fast you're going.
Second, all those different zones you go through in the games, they're all so colorful and fantastic.
Where do you find loop-de-loops in nature, anyway?
Everything's so friendly-looking, I'm not afraid to play this kind of game.
I also like how some of the zones are based on real-world places like San Francisco.
Sonic's not afraid of very much at all, so that pretty much sets him up for some epic situations.
He's been all around the world, he's been to outer space, he's been fighting giant monsters,
and, well, saving the world from Doctor Eggman (Robotnik) who's been trying to take it over,
and Sonic's been a pretty good hero for as long as he's been around.
Epic story needs an epic soundtrack, and Sonic definitely has one.
It's definitely changed over the years.
I keep some of the tracks on my iPod (mp3 player).
Here's a list of my favorite composers.
I've used a track from each one of them somewhere in this video.
Finally, this is my favorite thing about him.
He's not afraid of going so fast because he feels like
the universe is looking out for him,
and it's really kind of a zen thing when you think about it.
Hi! Thanks for watching my video,
I hope you enjoyed it. Well, see ya later! :)
