Today on our 2013 Dodge Journey, we'll be test fitting the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, part
number 2923. Before we get started with the test fit, we need to first measure the hitch
height of our vehicle. It's the measurement from the ground to the inside top edge of
our receiver tube. We have a hitch height measurement of 13-3/4 inches. Now, remember
this measurement will vary from vehicle to vehicle, depending on the exact model, aftermarket
parts such as the hitch itself, or even tire size. You want to make sure in measuring your
particular vehicle when determining which ball mount you need to use.
Now, we can go ahead and test fit our ball mount. We'll first set it up in the drop position.
We'll insert the shank of the ball mount into the receiver tube of the hitch and line up
the hitch pin holes, and then we'll secure the mount with a standard 5/8-inch pin and
clip. This ball mount offers a 2-inch drop, so from the ground to the top of our ball
platform, we'll measure 11-3/4 inches. Now, if we measure your trailer height that's from
the ground to the bottom edge of the coupler and you get 11-3/4 inches, this will be the
proper ball
mount to use.
