Just because you eat healthy doesn't mean you have to give up brownies,
especially double chocolate, organic, tonic brownies.
Learn how to make brownies the purest way
today on Groovy Gourmet.
This is Angie's special Double Dark Chocolate. You'll need this on the double boiler
to start your brownies. Preheat the oven to 350 degree.
So just what does make a brownie tonic? Well, tonic herbs.
Gynostema and wild chaga.
So you'll see on the chaga,
this darker bark side of it is much harder. And I use that for tea, and I cut off
the inside lighter brown color and use that to grind up.
Yeeeah! At long last,
my tonic brownies and I can be reunited together. Oh my tonic brownies how I've missed you.
Herbs, herbs, grind up the herbs.
Wild Canadian chaga, into the grinder.
Organic gynostemma from Maine.
The gynostemma has a surprisingly sweet flavor,
whereas the chaga is very Earthy
and has much more of a toned down flavor.
Gynostemma into the grinder with the chaga.
And now it's time to zoom zoom! Grind them up! Yeah!
This part is really cool!
Watch all the smoke come out as we take the lid off. (laughing) Totally gnarly dude.
Check this out! Here are our ground up tonic herbs. They're actually going to go
into the brownies as part of the flower composition. Try that one on for size.
Importante! for your brownies or any gluten-free dish that you want to taste
authentic,
flour composition. So, for these tonic brownies, I'm using almond meal,
quinoa flour,
our tonic herbs,
cinnamon because we love sugar and spice,
quarter teaspoon of baking soda,
and
celtic sea salt.
Alright, it's super important to mix this thoroughly because you don't want any weird chunks or
you know, flavors that are balanced in.
Word!
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited right now. Mmmmm!
A pastry cutter works well if you don't have a wisk.
All right!
So, everything is evenly varigated now in our flour composition.
So what you want to do is hollow out a spot in the center.
Pasture-raised, local, organic farm-fresh eggs. So excited.
One of the last trades of the art, vanilla into eggs. And then, beat it. Dun dun dun. Just beat it. [singing]
Yeah, vanilla eggs, vanilla pasture-raised eggs, oh my gosh!
Yeah! [laughing]
Let's do this!
Oh!
I'll need a measuring thing.
Let's check on the chocolate and see how it's doing. So, this looks perfect.
Here we go.
Look at this consistency of the chocolate.
Mmmm! It looks perfect.
Perfecto!
All right, we want our wet ingredients, our coconut oil, our honey, back into the double boiler.
Boom!
Mmmmmmm!
I don't know about you but,
for me, whenever there's a wooden spoon covered in chocolate in my hand,
I feel so empowered.
Alrighty!
Organic coconut oil. Boom!
Raw, organic, local honey, substitute for sugar.
Mmmm! And now...
we're going to stir these together,
very, very well.
Okay.
All right, we've got our egg mixture and its' going to go into our little our that we've hollowed out.
Then, we take our lovely chocolate mixture and pour it right into our little hole,
and then, we beat it.
Soaked and dehydrated walnuts.
Smells so good!
Mmmm! I can't wait to taste these.
And to think they're grain-free, dairy-free and sugar-free. Designated brownie dish
and parchment paper.
Here we go.
Oh my gosh.
I've been waiting so long for this moment.
All right, pop these in the oven for about 30 minutes.
So, about twenty minutes in, I put a piece of parchment paper over
the brownies, because the quinoa flour has a tendency to burn.
All right, let's see if the brownies are done.
Oh boy!
They're looking pretty good to me.
Insert toothpick two inches from the edge.
Yes! Looks pretty good to me. They are ready! Awesome! We're going to take these out of the pan
and let them cool for about 20 to 30 minutes.
All right, we've got our universal utensil.
Get it out with the finger. [laughing]
Okay! Everything tastes better on a finger.
Whoohooo! Let's cut into these bad boys and see what they're made of.
Oh my gosh!
Oh my gosh! All right, okay, all right, okay! All right.
We definitely have to taste the goods.
No.
You won't like these at all.
I'll just take care of these for you.
[laughing]
Mmmmm!
