Kh. Gatsalov on Development of The North Caucasus

We have just visited a round table where spotted development of the North Caucasus has been discussed. Do you agree with this idea? I agree with this view, I agree with this idea. Perhaps, spotted establishing of industrial areas, industrial spheres has historic grounds in this place, as well as mental grounds. We should implement this system in reality, it would become better and help other spheres. Other clusters can be developed on this basis. I support this serious statement. I liked it. What unique things does North Ossetia have? For example, Dagestan is developing shoe business. What unique things does your republic have? Of course we are speaking about industry. Because if there is no production, there is no economy. North Ossetia has a very serious scientific potential. North Ossetia can produce electronic things which it used to produce in the Soviet period. Electronic industry. I think we should revive it in Ossetia. This sphere was well presented in the Soviet Union. North Ossetia is one of republics which can be an example for others in the sphere of inter-ethnic peace. Why does the republic have such an atmosphere? Why do people of different ethnic groups and religions love peacefully together? It is an interesting question, why so. Perhaps for historical reasons. Our mentality influenced it as well. People have always lived here togetherů In general in the whole Caucasus good-neighbourly relations have always been welcomed. The same situation was in Dagestan, it was a peaceful cozy region for 30 years, in Chechen-Ingushetia, and Karachay-Cherkessia. We should come back and give a priority to relations between a human and a human, between the society and a human. I think we can do it. What do you think about elections in the republics? What is better to appoint or to elect? Is the Caucasus ready for elections? The Caucasus is not worse than any other Russian region. Of course, it is ready. I think people should have an opportunity to elect. There are problems, but they should be solved individually. Why should be afraid of it? I think Ossetia should have elections.
