Pope Francis endorses the «one of us» petition during the "Regina Coeli" prair
Rome, 12th May 2013
I call you all to keep your attention
on the most important issue of
the respect due to the human life
from the very moment of conception
In this regard I'd like to remember
also the collection of signatures today in many Italian parishes
in order to support the European initiative "one of us"
to provide legal protection to the embryo
protecting every human being
from the first moment of its existence
collecting signatures for the 'one of us' and 'pro-Life referendum" petitions
Fatima - Portugal, 12th May 2013
According to national legislation, the application was communicated to the civil authorities of Ourem
with information to the Rector of the Sanctuary, whose response follows:
«the Fatima Shrine maintains the same prohibition that was communicated previously.
Be it by the invocation of the right to property, or the invocation of legal norms and the "concordata"
it is our understanding that the Shrine can prohibit the intended action.
Among other reasons, it should be noted that the proposed activity
could conflict with the purpose of the Shrine, which is for strictly religious purposes.»
Fr. Carlos Cabecinhas
Temple guard: You are not allowed to stay here
pro-life activist: This is a public place
Temple guard: No, sir.
pro-life activist: It is
Temple guard: You should stop taking photos [actually filming]
Temple guard: or else, your recorder will fly to the other side [of the street].
Temple guard: I must call the police
Temple guard: There's two of them, right there
Can the defense of human life be other than a religious purpose?
Was the Pope Francisco appeal beyond any "strictly religious" limits of the papal mission?
