Ben Edwards is standing in the Council Room at the Australian Institute of Family Studies
in Melbourne. He is talking directly to the camera.
Hi I'm Ben Edwards, manager of longitudinal studies. I'm responsible for Growing Up in
Australia: the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children.
It's a landmark study, following 10,000 children from birth through to adulthood.
I'm also involved in the Australian Temperament Project, which has followed children from
when they're born to 27 years of age.
I also manage the Rural and Regional Family Study which examines the impact of drought
on families.
My key areas of research are looking at disadvantaged children, looking at school readiness and
school starting age, how families care for a person with a disability and also looking
at the impact of drought on families.
My other expertise is looking at statistical analysis of longitudinal data.
