I will still continue the Shin Jin Mei,
the oldest text of Chinese Zen tradition.
At the 32nd phrase
"People with narrow-minded,
limited,
fall into doubt."
Sensei, Master Deshimaru says
"Zazen is not so useful."
At our ego in social rules, social, zazen is not helpful.
So people try something a little zazen,
a little zazen, a little yoga, a little tai chi, a little ofthis, a little of this,
a little shaman, a little.. They're looking for something
They are looking for something that could be helpful to them
on a personal level.
Thus the mind wanders and doubt without can be established.
Then you must read the following sentence
"If we focus on the petty mind, then we lose all measure."
In fact the whole society operates this petty mind , opinions
listen to what others think before we know what we must think .
Is that reincarnation exists or does not exist?
Do you got satori ?
What to think? what does he have to choose?
They want answers, opinions.
At the moment I 'm rewrite the kusens I did on prajnaparamita.
And therefore asked the Buddha :
"Is that reincarnation exists?
Is it necessary to believe?"
People they ask his opinion, they asked him
"If the Buddha he believes , well I certainly believe so".
And the Buddha replied
"For those who believe that after death there is nothing ,
well those I teach that reincarnation exists."
And those who believe that somehow they will never die , they are eternal ,
well those where I tell them that reincarnation does not exist. "
Really?
So, what does this mean? We have a choice?
We are free to choose whether reincarnation exists or does not exist.
So this is the real dimension of Buddhism.
One is free to choose what exists and what does not exist for us.
Yes, if you believe in reincarnation, it probably is.
This choice, this freedom.
At this point, we begin to grasp the essence of zazen.
One sentence that has most affected me in Zen in Hokyo Zanmai says
"Absolute undoubtedly phrases. So is the Dharma. "
So take the posture of zazen, it means: adopt the attitude no doubt.
Focus its energy in the navel.
This is a fundamental thing in the teaching of traditional Zen is abdominal breathing.
it must be centered on the ocean of energy,
it's called kikai.
At this point, we start in harmony with the universal energy. Good.
Then that, it was explained
that in fact all animal instincts tend to fall down.
And all spiritual energy tends to rise upwards.
Must be reversed to find the balance, we must reverse this ordinary process.
So that's the basis of abdominal breathing.
And so we must anchor below the navel, the kikai Tanden,
about one to two inches below the navel, there is a whole area.
Just put your mind... I will explain in the next sesshin at the temple.
And so when you breathe in an ordinary way, and although the abdomen swells during inspiration
and falls during expiration.
And thus to reverse the current, the opposite movement.
The abdomen will swell during expiration and go for inspiration.
It's very subtle. You must do it in a very thoughtful way.
When we come to anchor ocean energy,
then we can return to this concentration anytime in the day, not only in zazen.
This is the true meaning of not leaving the dojo.
Precisely one of the rules of "ju on do shiki" Master Dogen is not to leave the dojo.
So obviously, the fools, they think it means to stay all day in the dojo.
It is not that. This is, to keep the dojo itself below the navel.
Or keep the temple itself below the navel.
And return during the daily life.
Because when the concentration below the navel is released,
the energy part. Disperses in all directions.
And then as we practice zazen, we have a lot of energy.
And so it is difficult to control, contain his energy, we get angry,
or we are depressed or doubt.
And so you just put his attention back to below the navel. Only that.
Only by placing his energy, then
When you place your attention sorry,
when your attention is placed anywhere on the body,
it has experienced, one can note that there is a heat condenses there.
So we must not block or jam the belly or anything of that.
You just feel, feel.
And the more you focus focus on this point,
on the kikai Tanden,
the more energy will grow, it will feel like a ball.
First it will be a small ball. And then a small pearl, after a small ball after a
small ball after a big ball.
That is why we always represents Buddha with a big belly,
in fact it is because it is centered below the navel.
From the ocean of energy, at this time,
we are in relationship with all the energy points, with all chakras.
And this one is the root.
This the base. If we do not the fundamental energy, we can not
concentrate, or open the chakras.
In addition if we do not start with this energy
of ocean energy, we can not control.
It can be dangerous.
And when I see my master, Master Deshimaru
actually, he was always, always centered
below the hara.
Not only during zazen, but still.
