as for the fourth reason which is the main one for which Muslims should not watch the matches of the world cup is that it contrasts with the doctrine of '' the love and hate for the sake of Allah '' which is against the loyalty of the believers and disavowal of the infidels ! and let me explain what that means : e.g. when Muslims watch any match of the world cup , they will ultimately end up loving infidel ( non-Muslim ) players and that's unacceptable in Islam ! and they may also show enthusiasm toward that particular non-Muslim team ( by rooting for them , cheering them enthusiastically etc... ) and that's also unacceptable in Islam because love and hate in Islam should be solely and exclusively be limited for the sake of Allah so , Muslims should love their fellow Muslims for the sake of Allah and hate the infidels for the sake of Allah
