This the airport in Machulishchi. Today pilots of the 61st fighter airbase were put on combat duty here.
Three fighter aircraft and military and engineering groups arrived at this airport from Baranovichi.
The aircraft at the airport have the second and third degrees of combat readiness
This means that the pilot has only 12 minutes to get on the plane, start the engine, drive the plane into the runway and take off.
We are on board of An-27 which will be a control target in this exercise designed to test interaction between on-duty air defence forces.
According to the scenario, apart from this very plane, Mi-8 helicopters and Su-25 fighters will 'violate' the border.
We were flying according to the route and at the pre-determined altitude.
According to the scenario, the military aircraft had problems with navigation.
A leading plane of the Russian air forces approached us
and led us to the airport
We flew around the airport one time without landing. Having fulfilled the task the leading plane left us
When we approached another airport we were 'intercepted' by on-duty airforce of the internal air defence team of the Republic of Belarus.
I found out this via the radio and could see Mig-29 to the left.
He also used international signals meaning that we are intercepted.
He approached our plane and signalled that we have been interecepted by slightly rocking the aircraft
I answered that I had understood his command and was ready to follow him.
After this he showed us the direction to the airport and we were ready to land there.
It was an unexpected combat readiness check. It involved almost all aircraft at the airports of the Republic of Belarus.
All on-duty forces were involved, too.
They took off from all airports.
The results showed quite a high level of interaction between the Belarusian and Russian elements of the Single Regional Air Defense System.
