My name is Nao Kanzaki.
One day, I suddenly got involved
in a terrible game, called "Liar Game".
They conducted a game called "Minority Rule".
Minority Rule
After a fierce battle,
the player that came out on top was
You lost.
SHIIIIIT!!!
Mr. Akiyama.
But he had signed contracts with other players
for splitting the cash prize.
As a result, he didn't have enough money to withdraw.
I am going to proceed to the third game.
Some days later, I found out about Mr. Akiyama's past.
Demands Notification
How his mother had been swindled by a multi-level marketing organization,
and committed suicide because of that.
How he had destroyed that organization for revenge.
And also the reason why he helped me.
When he saw how idiotically honest you were,
he must have remembered his own mother.
Resurrection Round
I want to save Mr. Akiyama.
Resurrection Round
I want to earn the money Mr. Akiyama needs to withdraw from the game.
For this I returned by my own will
to the "Liar Game",
to that dreadful battlefield.
The game all of you are going to play,
is called...
"Restructuring Game".
"Restructuring Game"?
You will now be provided with the voting papers
used in this game.
All you have to do is
write a player's name on each of the 5 blanks and cast your vote.
However, you will not vote
on the player you wish to see laid-off.
We would like you to write the names of
those players you would like to see proceed to Round Three.
I see.
A popularity poll...
However, there are two things you must not do.
You may not write down your own name,
and you may not vote with any empty blanks on your paper.
If you break either of these conditions,
you will be fined with a penalty of
100 million yen.
The vote is conducted ten times, once per hour.
When the final vote has been cast,
the player with the least votes
will be "restructured".
On the other hand, the player who earns the most votes
and ends up in first place
will receive two special bonuses.
First, we will award that player with a special cash prize
of 100 million yen.
And second,
the player will earn the right to withdraw from Round Three.
If the player who ends up first,
returns half of the cash prize, that is 50 million yen,
we will allow that player to withdraw from Round Three.
If I end up first, I'll get 100 million and I can get out of this game.
You can't get out, idiot!
Minority Rule
You still have a 100 million debt from the previous game, right?
After you pay for that, there won't be any cash prize left.
So, even if we end up first,
we still need another 50 million to withdraw?
But that's impossible!
Hey, is that all we can get from this game?
No.
The 100 million from the "restructured" player
100 mil yen
will be evenly distributed amongst the 8 winning players.
people
100 million yen divided by 8 people...
That'd be 12.5 million yen for each.
12.5 mil yen
What? That's not much, is it?
There is no need to worry.
In this game, there is a way
to obtain more money than just the prize money.
M Ticket?
These are called "M Tickets".
100 million yen left?
These are your stakes.
The substitute of a 100 million yen.
In other words,
each of you have a 100 million yen check right now.
Please take a look around.
We have provided neither food nor drinks,
nor anything else here.
And once the game commences,
you will see that you are going to need
various things in order to win this game.
And that's when you will find the use
of these M Tickets.
How to use the M Ticket.
To give an easy example,
let's say the player Taro gets thirsty.
He wants to drink some water,
but unfortunately he doesn't have any drinks with him.
The player Hanako steps in here,
and offers
to sell him some water for 500 yen.
If Mr. Taro accepts this offer,
then it's time to use his M Ticket.
Mr. Taro writes the details of the transaction on the M Ticket,
and passes it on to Miss Hanako.
Miss Hanako shows this to a member of the Office,
and upon getting a stamp of approval,
The selling water deal is completed.
Miss Hanako then hands over the water to Mr Taro.
By conducting transactions like this
each player's stakes will change over time.
Also, after a deal has been completed,
if a player refuses to hand over the goods
the player will be penalized for 100 million yen.
Please be aware of this.
Those of you who feel that a cash prize of 125 million yen is not enough,
should try their luck at selling things.
For this reason we have informed you in advance
that you may bring personal belongings with you.
I am sure that each of you has made sure
to be fully prepared for this event.
Ah... I should've brought something more useful than this.
We can't earn that much money, no matter what we sell!
That is not necessarily true.
You will understand once the game commences.
In this game, the most unexpected things...
are the most valuable.
Also, like the previous games,
we will ask you to return the 100 million handed out in the beginning.
It goes without saying that you will have to cover for any deficit,
so please be careful.
So now, the "Restructuring Game" will begin.
I wonder...
what're the "unexpected things?"
Can I really win this?
Why are you all so calm!
Oh! Nao!
Sit down, have a snack!
The result's already clear, so...
What do you mean?
That means it's already clear who will be"restructured".
But how...
It's Fukunaga.
It's already settled that he will be restructured.
Can't forgive somebody like him.
He betrayed all of us in the second round.
Because of him we all have to face 100 million yen debts.
Don't try to look innocent, you mushroom!
You're not welcome here!
Just as I thought... you are all against me, huh?
Get away from here!
I get it, I get it.
I guess I can't avoid losing, but...
there's still time left before voting.
Oh, how about a nice round of "ice-breaker"?
Like, let's talk about our debts from Round Two,
and how much trouble we are each in.
No matter what you try, none of us will feel any sympathy for you!
I just want everyone to listen, that's all.
I am not trying to win your hearts anyways,
I already know there's no point in doing that.
But... isn't this a serious problem for all of us?
I mean, you're all going to proceed into Round Three, right?
When that happens, you eight will once again be enemies, you know...
So, instead of wasting your time sitting around aimlessly,
shouldn't you start to think about
whom you should kill off next?
Well... maybe you are right.
Yay! Then let's get started!
Let's start with... you!
Stand here!
Go ahead!
I can't cover my debts of 100 million.
I can't!
Natsuko!!
Everyone went ahead to explain why they should win.
Their reasons were all different,
but all of them were equally desperate, equally determined.
And finally it was my turn.
Nao, you're the last one.
Yes.
Oh, right.
Wait a second!
Just a quick question before you start.
What are you doing here?
I...
I was told about the resurrection round by someone from the Office, so...
Yeah, but that's not what I meant.
How much do you owe?
I... owe nothing...
No debt... what?
Why?
Ahh...
Ahh! That's right! You were in Akiyama's team!
That's right.
So, naturally, you got your share, huh?
the 100 million to pay back your debts from the second round,
and your share of more than 40 million yen as well!
Please wait!
It is true that I won that money,
but...
Finally, I realized...
That this had all been Mr. Fukunaga's scheme.
His planned to make me the candidate for "restructuring".
And I fell for it.

Miss Hiromi.
Don't talk to me!
Please wait! That was..
Miss Keiko!
Please wait!
I have nothing to say to you.
It's all a misunderstanding!
Which part of it?
That...
Don't talk to us anymore!
Unlike you,
we're desperate because of our debts.
You're all alone now, huh?
Poor Nao.
But it's your fault, Mr. Fukunaga.
If you hadn't tell everyone those things...
Stop blaming other people for telling the truth!
Nao.
Why do you think I told them?
To...
To get me "restructured".
Wrong.
To make sure that you and I will win.
Let's work together.
Huh?
There's a way
for certain victory in this game.
If you and I work together,
we will win this game for sure.
If this game was about voting for the player you wish to "restructure",
then certainly one of us will get voted out.
But we are supposed to write down the names of players
that we wish to see proceed to the third round, right?
Uh, yes.
You can't write down your own name, that means...
you must write down another person's name.
So we just need to secure each other's votes.
Secure?
But... ahh!
Yeah.
If you and me vote for each other, we'll be alright!
There're 5 blanks on each voting paper.
We are allowed to use them freely,
so we fill each other's name into all five blanks and cast our votes.
The vote will be conducted 10 times,
so each of us can secure 50 votes in total.
If we get that far, neither of us will lose.
If the other seven players wanted
to make one of us last,
they'd need 51 votes to accomplish that.
But that's impossible, you know?
Since the other players
can only cast 50 votes each, too.
This means that if all of the votes are spread evenly,
nobody can obtain more than 50 votes.
This means we can't lose, but
but when everybody has the same amount of votes we can't win either.
The chances for such a result are slim.
Do you really think those guys can come up with a similar plan?
I made them talk about their motivations for that reason.
During that "ice-breaker",
you and I became the villains to them.
Due to that, those guys became relieved,
thinking that either you or me
would definitely lose in the end.
And because of that they don't think they need a strategy.
But they're just being thoughtless.
If the votes are spread out evenly,
each player will secure five votes each, right?
But in reality, an outcome like this is more probable.
And the player who fails to get 5 votes the first round,
can't overtake us after that.
Why?
Let's say that player with 4 votes panics,
and starts to exchange his votes with somebody else.
But even if that player does that the remaining 9 voting rounds,
he can only gain a maximum of 45 votes.
Even after you add the 4 votes from the first round,
that player would fails to get more than 49 votes.
That player would never reach
our 50 votes for sure!
If you fall behind in this game,
you have no second chance to recover.
And that's why both of us will win if we work together.
Amazing...
It's perfect, isn't it? My plan.
Of course you're in, right?
What's that? You still don't trust me?
No, that's not it...
The "restructured" player will have to bear debts again, right?
You know, there's one thing you should remember.
There is no way everyone in this world can be happy.
But... how can that...
That's the truth.
There are those who steal and those who get stolen from.
Those who succeed and those who fail,
there's clear differentiation!
You get nothing for worrying about others.
That's... that's not true!
Simply thinking about your own gain you--
Do you think you can win like this?
If you think like that, you're bound to lose!
Are you okay with that?
Let me ask you again.
You'll work together with me, right?
Alright.
We're allies, then.
Well, that's that.
Tell me...
Why are you helping me?
We're in this together.
If it wasn't for this plan,
either you or I will lose.
And... when I saw you,
you looked so frail, I just couldn't leave you alone.
Mr. Fukunaga...
Well... see you at the vote, right?
Yes.
Is there really no way...
for everyone to be happy?
A message from the Office.
"I look forward to the third round."
"Don't think you can just get away."
You... don't tell me
you think you got involved in this game
just by chance.
How can that be?
Your participation in the game
was decided from the start.
We want to express our gratitude
for what you did three years ago.
What's that supposed to mean!?
There's something else I'd like to tell you.
That MLM organization head who died three years ago...
He was just a dummy.
Your revenge
failed.
It is time.
Please cast your votes for the first round.
We will now count the votes.
The results of the first voting round are in.
Please have a look at the screen at the front.
With this...
The final result will be decided.
Voting Results
What does this mean?
I got zero votes.
The next vote will be held in an hour.
Mr. Fukunaga, what does this mean?
Didn't you promise you'd vote for me?
Yeah, I promised.
But I didn't have a reason to keep that promise!
This is the "Liar Game".
did you forget the objective of this game?
That's so cruel...
so cruel...
You deceived me again...
So what. I told you before...
Being deceived is always your own fault.
Nao.
You're the sacrifice that will allow me to win.
No...
I mustn't cry...
I've got to ask someone else...
to vote for me...
Excuse me...
Let's go somewhere else, shall we?
Excuse me...
Out of the way!
If you fall behind in this game,
you have no second chance to recover.
It is time.
Please cast your votes for the second round.
Excuse me...
Would some of you please hear me out?
I beg of you!
Please listen to me!
Miss Kanzaki.
Please cast your votes.
We will now count the votes.
We will now announce the results.
Voting Results
The next voting will be held an hour from now.
What Mr. Fukunaga had told me came true.
After I fell behind in the first round of voting,
I also got 0 votes for the second round.
Here are the voting results.
Voting Results
And
same for the third round.
If this goes on, you will lose the game.
What will you do?
I don't know... what I should do.
Have you given up already?
I don't want to give up.
But...
Hello?
Here, take this.
I don't want any money for it!
I... that's all I can do for you.
You know Nao,
I feel really bad for you.
The other time you protected me,
that's why I wanted to vote for you, but...
now I can't do that anymore.
Why's that?
So you don't know?
Why you didn't even get one vote?
No, I don't.
Do you know anything, Mr. Etou?
Hey, Nao...
in the beginning you agreed to exchange votes with Fukunaga, didn't you?
Yes.
We also...
thought of that plan.
The seven of us planned to exchange our votes in the same way.
But then...
Too bad for you.
You see, Nao and I are working together.
So everybody's will end up getting 50 votes.
Simple-minded, aren't you?
Of course one of the players is going to lose!
Have you forgotten a very important fact?
Nao Kanzaki has money to play with!
When everyone has 50 votes each, she's going to let her money do the talking.
For example...
What would you do if she says this:
"I'll give you 40 million yen if you vote for me"
I... I won't double-cross anybody!
Even if you won't do that,
what about the others?
Each of you has a 100 million debt.
You would take even a small amount of money.
I wonder if all of you can reject,
if she comes to you with a deal like that.
Get it?
Nao, the one with the money,
and I, who works with her, we're in the clear.
But the rest of you are in critical danger
of possibly being the loser!
But you know, I actually came here with a proposal.
If you each pay me 5 million yen
that is, a total of 35 million yen,
I'll save all of you.
Save us? But how...
I'll betray her.
Nao Kanzaki.
Betray her?
I'll shift the 50 votes I promised to give her to all of you.
But...
Use your heads!
The final cash prize is 12.5 million yen.
Paying me 5 million yen is
definately better than getting "restructured" and having to pay 200 million yen, right?
But... we don't have 5 million yet...
Oh, you do.
You can use these M Tickets to buy my betrayal.
Did you really think you'd be using the M Tickets to buy water or something to eat?
Remember what the dealer said.
In this game, the most unexpected things
are the most valuable.
This is what you'd never think of.
A strategy.
A strategy?
A strategy, a plan, a winning method.
The M Tickets exist to buy and sell intangible things like that!
So, what do you say?
My strategy...
Will you buy?
Or not?
95 million...
We bought it.
Fukunaga's strategy.
But...
Then I'll buy, too!
I can cover the debts.
Please sell me your votes!
I can't... I really can't.
Why?
Because of our deal was made with M Tickets.
It's so frustrating... but that guy's really clever.
He's always a step ahead of us!
We only thought of trading things with these tickets, right?
That's why I thought there'd be no use for them in this game.
But... Fukunaga is using them as contracts.
Fukunaga and I...
we bought each others' votes for 1 yen.
For 1 yen...
The amount doesn't really matter.
We paid 1 yen each, so we ended up with the same amount.
The only thing that's left is the contract.
I can't break it,
because the penalty is 100 million.
The others too?
All of them?
Under Fukunaga's encouragement...
everyone wrote down whom they will vote for on the M Tickets.
Then...
That's why... I really feel bad for you, but...
You...
You don't have a chance.
I told you to stay away from her, didn't I?
Don't you understand Japanese, Leopard Boy?
Please stop, Mr. Fukunaga!
Are you ok?
Well, doesn't really matter. My strategy's perfect as it is.
Mr. Etou...
Mr. Etou!
I told you.
There's no point in worrying about others.
This is the end for you!
And that's for sure.
I lost.
"You are such an embarrassment."
It's over...
Who gets "restructured" is already decided.
You still haven't lost.
How joyful...
In one sentence, give him a taste of his own medicine.
The one who controls this game is Nao Kanzaki.
Whether you are to live or to die, the decision...
is all in her hands.
