Hey, it’s Chad from FITera and today I want to talk to you about water and why it is absolutely
critical to not only good health, but long-term effective fat loss as well… and then I want
to give you a really simple trick you can do to make sure you’re drinking enough water.
Every physiological process that takes place in your body, including burning fat, depends
on water. For example, your liver needs water to convert stored fat to energy. And if your
kidneys are water-deprived, your liver has to do the kidneys’ work all on its own,
lowering its ability to help you burn fat. So if you’re not drinking enough water,
you’re setting yourself up to store fat.
Water is also a natural appetite suppressant, so if you’re low on water, you may overeat
to compensate. Your brain does not know how to differentiate between hunger and thirst.
If you think you’re hungry, your body may be sending signs that you’re thirsty. So
any time you think you’re hungry, drink a glass or two of water first. If it’s thirst,
your hunger will go away.
Now, The National Academy of Sports medicine recommends 3 quarts, or 96 ounces per day,
and an additional 8 ounces for every 25 lbs you carry above your ideal weight.
If you wait to drink water until you are thirsty, you will already be partially dehydrated.
So it’s important to make drinking water a habit and set reminders to keep yourself
drinking throughout the day! And so here’s the simple trick I want to
show you. This water bottle here contains 16 oz of water and so I need to drink about
5 of these throughout the day, which can be pretty tough to remember.
So, what I
suggest is putting 5 rubber bands here on your water bottle each day… and each time
you finish one of these, take it off and put it on your wrist or desk drawer or wherever…
or if you still have a tough time remembering, you can put all 5 of them on your wrist to
start each day, which you’ll likely notice even more – and then as you finish each
one, put it on the water bottle until you’ve finished all 5 and they’re all off your
wrist and on the water bottle.
So that’s it – super quick and easy and doesn’t
cost hardly anything, but will make a big impact on your success. I have clients that
would eat well, workout consistently, and had a really hard time losing weight… until
they started drinking a lot more water – about 96 oz. a day – and not long after, started
to make some really excited changes.
