Mini Walmarts to Infest College Campuses?

big news for wal-mart they're coming to your campus now there apparently no longer satisfied to just be part of the massive parking lot right off again with another one of the that and i'm not quite as wal-mart ever away from anytime that area exactly anywhere um... that's so uh... georgia tech is about to become the second ecology host a mini wal-mart on their campus are joining the university of arkansas in fayetteville which opened in january so still january's their belly moving fast about any what's the deal they will be everywhere and the s_ o_ that democrats they're building one in the studio would be pretty collection wound up with a moment in a little and all that uh... the walmart circuit bustle of pharmacy services basic groceries general merchandise check cashing bill paying services uh... which is a sort of thing you'd expect from any anne like student unions sort of convenience or something like that but what's interesting is that the the uh... you at the university of arkansas location replaced university one pharmacy man and i imagine convenience store or restaurant or whatever they had already the basically and all of wal-mart is to replace ania locally running bases and happened as white that off hildebrand at and take over george tech location is getting it into a five hundred and five thousand square feet out which is now being so the average a wal-mart is a hundred eighty-five thousand feet passive role in sf and and and and then when you put it in that number that's and itself it's like an airport uh... so ends and they they also bring up the possibility of his at age was saying but this might be to get around zoning restrictions and just kept them out of major urban areas because there are places where you can build warmer because it's so big but now he moved in just as intense as unveils created you with us and the services that they cannot offers gray and that's when people continue i don't want to give it doesn't offer good service as i mean for a lot of students who are living on campus and especially since you don't have a car they really need to have these things offered on campus like bill paying bill paying the bay and exactly basic restaurants we have like a little tiny convenience or being the only by listerine keys and granola bars you could buy any actual voted and so i think it would be worthwhile to have a grocery store are just a small grocery store on your campus but obviously we all know the terrible arguments against wal-mart which are completely legitimate if you guys had seen the documentary the high cost of for the yeah the high cost of low price by robert written greenwald's business about how wal-mart goes into these areas just completely abolish is any hope for a small business says and then often after a couple years ones other small businesses are are run out of business hallmark thompson knows and and he does raise houses exactly competition now in the labor market raising more exactly s_l_ obviously i i'm not in favor of i do think that this is that but especially because uh... like that the counter pointed to your arguments would be more people can just not go to walmart but you might decide all the rest of the business economic diversity or if you're at the university that's the story that such university you're sort of a captive audience at that point so and also it may not make the ones making the decisions like the university's making a decision and i think that you do need certain resources on your campus like pharmacies and things like that but but i have a hard time believing that there's a lot of campuses that don't have that they're gonna be spring for marketing that they're gonna be replacing stores that are already there uh... so i've a feeling most of our viewers are probably not be in favor of this uh... i wonder how much is this for the first year hopefully not
