Do you know the texture paper?
The texture paper is this one here. This is one of the molds, because has many patterns.
It is a rich paper that is all texturized, it is white as you can see, and with it we can make many types work.
Covering pieces made of MDF, wood…covering all surfaces.
And today I will make this type of work in this piece.
I chose this oval box, it has some small feet right here, very interesting, it matches, doesn’t it?
It matches with the paper, the piece is very important that stay in a context.
Well, to make this work, you need these materials, if you want to take note...
So I need Gomaflex, because with the Gomaflex I will set the paper in the surface, right?
Don’t use glue…it differs a lot. Ah, let me tell you, why not use white glue.
The white glue takes longer to dry, and it has too much water, right?
It will diminish the texture of the paper, it messes with the paper. Gomaflex doesn’t!
There is a difference in its composition, it won't affect the texture, that is cool!
So if you want you can make a test, an experience and glue a piece of paper with Gomaflex
And one with white glue then you will see the difference.
I’ve already done this, this why I’m here teaching you. So did you take note?
Gomaflex, Gomaflex for you to glue the paper on the surface.
After we will work on this little box with the Craft Aquabase.
Craft Aquabase that sealing, which gives a white background, ok?
And my idea is to work even more with the Satin Volume, on top of this paper.
Increasing even more the texture. And finish it with the white shining paint.
And finish it with the white shining paint.
Acrylic! it makes part of the DAIARA acrylic paint collection. Eeehh…shining!
Shining white, ok? Did you take note?
Gomaflex, shining white paint, acrylic isn’t it? Craft Aquabase and "Granizo" Satin Volume.
It will be all white, you have noticed it, haven´t you?
First thing you have to do, is to glue the paper on the box surface, so the hint is…
Check the paper it has a right and an odd side.
You can see the difference, one side the texture is facing up and on the other it’s facing down.
We can use this side here but, this one is more interesting, isn’t it?
That is the right side. So you turn the paper to the other side and can set the piece...
In this case…the lid, on the opposite side of the paper, ok?
Grab a pencil and scratch a line, ok? And for the sides I will measure the height and cut a part, using a ruler, right?
After you’ve done the mold, you take a scissors to cut.
After you cut the paper, you will glue it with Gomaflex.
Use a bristle brush, that the bristle brush is stronger, very good to make works, with Gomaflex.
Look... apply a good layer of Gomaflex on the surface where you will apply the paper.
You can notice that the lid has a mark…here…that goes around the entire lid, doesn’t it?
So, I am applying the Gomaflex in this mark, because when I cut the paper, I already cut the mark also.
Then it's very easy, you apply a good layer, don´t need to exaggerate, but you can’t go easy on it too.
You set the paper, look, I cut it and it’s bigger than the lid, when u used the pencil, I did so it would be a bit bigger.
Look! Then you press it with your hands, you feel like it is really sticking, it is firm and doesn’t move.
And then look the detail, take a mallet, I like this metal mallet.
I will press here exactly in the mark i will break the paper texture in here, pressing down with the mallet.
This detail makes a perfect finishing in the lid, exactly.
Look, if I was going to cut the paper right in the mark, I wouldn´t have a perfect work.
Not because the damped paper in the Gomaflex, when cutting, either with blade or scissors, will always be imperfect.
You don´t get the right line. Then I discover that by using the mallet I make this mark get a perfect finishing.
After it is ready you will not see the difference, but it really gets perfect.
Look... I went about all the board line, so you press like this, will have leftovers of course.
Look there, there will always be leftovers, but when I made the paper mold, I left this leftover on purpose.
After you press, the ideal is to let it dry to make the cut.
But here i don´t have this time, so I will grab a scissors and make a cut.
Grab a small scissors because it´s easier. Then look... turn it the other way, right?
So you could see, then turn, grab the scissors, touch the blade against the wood, and make a neat cut.
Perfecting!
Glue the piece of paper going around the box. Ah, there is a detail! Did you see it here?
To hold and fix better - because it is a small piece of paper - I use two rubber bands.
You can do this, because this way the paper gets well attached.
And in the same way, as in the lid, in the inferior part you also remove the leftovers with the scissors. Ok?
You can leave the rubber bands for a while, and after it is dry, by the time it’s ready to paint.
Because when you will paint, wait the Gomaflex to dry, it’s important because the paper moves, right?
However, after it is dry, if it moves a little it will move back and remain in the same place, right?
The same way it was before. The cool part is that you can notice that it didn´t change the texture of the paper!
It continues the same way.
Just here in the detail of the mark, where i straighten it using the mallet, I smashed and tore the texture apart.
Then it is different, but is perfect. And it doesn’t take long to dry, right?
Ten to fifteen minutes it is dry.
Next step now is to work with the Satin Volume.
The Satin Volume to make that texture increases even more the texture.
Satin Volume! It is a texture that comes in a nozzle bottle.
You always need to shake the Satin Volume. Pay attention because it is a paste, not paint.
You need to shake if it is still for a while; you grab a barbecue pick and move inside.
You can even put a drop of water, if it is expired, right?
Then you make a test to check if it is coming out right, if it is flowing through the nozzle.
If it clogs you just open and wash it. Satin Volume is water-soluble.
But after it dries it doesn’t come out anymore. It is a very resistant paste, DAIARA exclusive, there is no similar.
You have to fill the difference. And here look, I will make a work, increasing the texture.
I can utilize the drawing here, the pattern, to enrich the entire work.
Look! Increasing. That´s what I said before, didn´t I?
The Satin Volume has this facility, you can re-pass and straight it, while you are working, with no connections.
It’s fantastic, you have to try. I will make the lines here, using the line of the paper.
This is one of the patterns, there are a lot of different patterns.
Look the detail, you make all the texture with Satin Volume, you can even make some dots...
The details, the finishing, depends on your creativity, each one makes it their way.
But you can add some drops to increase more, really invent. Let it dry.
The Satin Volume has to dry naturally, for half hour, or more depends where you live, because it dries on room temperature.
After it is dry you will apply the Craft Aquabase. Hone in the corners and make it penetrates into the lines.
Apply one layer of Craft Aquabase, dry, and then apply one more.
Now, you can dry on the thermal blower easily.
And the paper here is waterproof, stuck nicely with the Gomaflex under it.
So you waterproof it on the top part, and it doesn’t change.
Do this on the lid and on the box too, on the down part.
Here i add some dots, and gave a nice finishing in the paper.
All of this you can invent, all of this you can create.
And apply two coatings of Craft Aquabase in everything.
That’s right, in the entire piece, including even the feet.
Because it is a sealer, which prepares a white background.
Then of course, we have to sand paper the rough parts mainly the marks and the lines in the lid, right?
...
Check it out! See how easy? Simple, isn’t it?
And now, to finalize I will apply the shining white paint. Simple!
I could even let it this way but it would be a little matte.
But, I want to use the shining that will highlight even more the texture and increase, wouldn’t it?
So look here, the shining paint, the name itself says, shining of course.
You apply with a pencil, hone in the Satin Volume texture, to get all painted up, flawless, it is important.
Apply one coating, dry, and apply another one. Very easy!
It’s a wonderful finishing. See how easy?
So, you can do it over there too.
All products water based! DAIARA products! Don´t forget it.
