I don’t think you’re ready for this, ‘cause my iPad’s too Blockolicious for you, babe.
You know the crazy thing, Beyonce just had a kid. And she still looks unbelievable.
In fact, I can only assume her genes probably work a lot like this game. She has blocks
of good-looking that combine in her helixes to form good-looking DNA bombs that cause
explosions of genetic hotness...and posteriors worthy of flattering puns.
I mean, that’s how science works.
Obviously, science plays a primary role in Blockolicious. This is a kind of tile-matching
puzzler in the vein of games like Bejeweled and Puzzle Quest. So you have this screen
filled with colored fruit blocks, and it’s your job to combine like colors into clusters.
After that, you combine three or more of those clusters into powerful juice bombs that clear
blocks of the same color.
This may or may not be how great *** are made, as well.
You have two minutes to score as many points as possible, and to do so, making juice bombs
is obviously of the utmost importance. But the catch is that those clusters have a limited
shelf life. Once they’re made, they slowly lose their juice. Unless you make more in
their immediate proximity, they go dry. When that happens, the cluster disappears.
So you have to work fast and be smart about where you make the clusters. Because three
are needed to make a juice bomb, you have to plan ahead and try to keep them together.
Clusters are worthless if they are too far apart, but since you only have two minutes—and
since you’re rewarded with streak bonuses—you also have to work quickly.
Fortunately, you have some power-ups to help turn the tide in your favor. Six animals are
there to help you, each of which offers its own power-up. So like any good puzzler, Blockolicious
has a frantic feel, but you also have some weapons up your sleeve.
Blockolicious is obviously very simple, but it is a nice package that comes with all the
features you’d expect on the iPad. There are weekly leaderboards, and the game also
supports Facebook, GameCenter and Crystal for achievements and multiplayer.
It’s a simple formula that isn’t exactly groundbreaking in terms of originality, but
the game is undeniably fun and addictive. It’s a perfect match for the iPad, so if
you’re a puzzle fan looking for a new game to chew on, Blockolicious is a pretty safe
bet.
