Uncharted 4.
The game that got delayed once
Then again.
And again.
Just as I was about to send these guys
a threatening email, I saw this
It's at that point in time that I knew exactly
what I had to do...
Uncharted 4 follows the story of Drake
AKA Dude Raider
AKA NOT the Six God
AKA the son of a *** that's gonna *** you up
First up is game-play.
Uncharted 4 is a third-person shooter like the previous
games and it controls as you'd expect
Up goes forward
Down goes back. Left goes left and right goes right.
Standard stuff.
Aiming is nice and tight, and has carried over from both Uncharted 2 and 3
If you played those two before, you got this ***
A new mechanic was introduced here, and that is the grappling hook
Thankfully, it has more than one use
Swinging from place to place, rappelling from high to low areas,
air take downs as well as clubbing your best friend in the head
As far as graphics go, this is undisputedly one of the top five
best looking PS4 titles at the moment
It looks very similar to the build shown upon the reveal, which is always
the case for any developer on the planet
Thankfully, it still looks great
Light bounces off the world realistically,
tires leave convincing tracks in the mud. Mud even sticks to the tires
And foliage moves as you walk through it
As usual, Naughty Dog still pays attention to the stuff most developers don’t,
and that’s the stuff I like to see in my games in the future
and I think aspiring developers should learn from this.
So Drake’s been doing this *** for years
But he is out of the game. He's not a kid anymore
and wants to leave this adventure *** behind
Drake just wanna fill forms and bust a nut.
Then his brother Sam shows up. He needs him now, more than ever
But this review is spoiler free. If you'd like to know
exactly what happened, check the gameplay in the description.
The same thing can be said about the sound.
The guns sound as they did in the previous games
especially for the classic weapons like the AK-47...
The soundtrack is also pretty good, but it’s important to note that
the composer is not a Greg anymore, but a Henry
There is a mixture synthetic and real instruments and the overall mix is well done.
It’s a fresh take and I’m sure Greg would approve.
So to answer the question “Do I need to have played the previous games to understand the story?”
The answer is no you do not. But if you do that, you won’t be able to see the evolution
of the characters’ relationships
and it will be even harder you to appreciate the increase in the quality of the game,
both visually and in the quality of the dialogue.
So my suggestion is yes. Grab it if you can.
It’s worth it even just for Uncharted 2. And 2 is greater than 3. Just a fact.
So here we are guys
The end of the review, and quite possibly the end of the Uncharted franchise as we know it.
As sad as I am that one the best games on the planet is coming to an end, I'm happy for many things.
First, I am pleased with how it ended
Second, I think it’s brave that a developer ends a franchise, considering that
starting something new is risky and can mean financial trouble.
In a few words, it takes balls to do that
Really BIG balls.
