YM: "Whatever you want to do, go ahead and do it, we will support you. As long as you are healthy and happy, it's all good; nothing else matters." Now I think when I was a kid I was the really mischievous/naughty type. Can't stop moving, had ADHD that type. So my parents thought, if they want to send me to learn piano or calligraphy etc. for sure I won't be able to sit still for it--I won't be able to calm myself down. So then they thought, well there is an acting class for little kids, and our little girl's appearance is...not bad-looking (laughs) might as well send her there! So they sent me there to learn, learn some posture, vocalizing that type of thing. And every Sunday there would be directors who came to pick young actors, so it happened that I was actually picked...a few times, so when I was little I did have a bit of acting experience. Host: Does everyone want to see what YM was like as a kid actor? Audience: Yes!! Host: Let's take a look at a clip, shall we? Host: Soooo cute!!! The only thing is back then your teeth weren't that nice, huh? YM: No front teeth, no front teeth! Host: No front teeth... Host: Was it because you ate too much candy, and your teeth fell out? YM: Yes, ate too much candy, and just happened at the time I was changing teeth [baby teeth to adult teeth], so I didn't even have any front teeth! Host: But that performance was still very confident, right? Singing and dancing around all by yourself...Can you sing it for us again? YM: Oh my gosh... At the time, when this video came out, when my agent saw it, Host: Just wanted it deleted/gone? YM: She got so delighted/high for a whole day... She got delighted/high for a whole day, so thrilled and happy for a whole day, and then she took it to show all the people around us: "This was what she was like when she was little!" That song was called "Xiao Hong Mao" ("Little Red Hat"), I remembered it very clearly then Actually the director just wanted one little section, I only needed to sing two phrases. But I--well they said, when I was little Host: Had too much of a desire to act? my desire for acting was too too strong, so once they stopped (said "cut") I would cry. I said, "No, you're not allowed" Host: "You can't, you can't stop!" YM: "You can't stop, you're not allowed to take away the camera!" At the time I even knew if the camera was turned on or off. I said, "The red light is turned off!" Host: ...too professional... YM: "You have to turn on the red light to start recording!" And then I just had to continue singing the song and finish it. Host: Wow...well today our "red light" will never turn off! Whenever you want to sing till, you can sing till, alright? And we also have a lot of applause here! YM: [singing] YM: Right?
