I wanna go home to Denver. - You really mean that, don't you? - Yes. ANNOUNCER: Last time on Dynasty: There. Those are my cars. My family is in there. I'm going to reason with Matthew. You're gonna reason with him? With a lunatic? Then we are all gonna die. And that includes your son, Steven. "And then we made love" Our bodies, our lives, one again. [DANA GIGGLES] - Did I say something wrong? - Well, Adam. Mrs. Carrington. Is there some deep, dark secret in your past I should know about? Mm, sorry, no secrets. Matthew, both your men are dead. You've got no chance. Now let my family out. Please. ALEXIS: Blake. BLAKE: What are you doing here? - You could get killed. - Are they all right? I don't know. I wish I could tell you, but I don't know. That's as far as you go, Blake. I can't let you do this, Matthew. Well, you're gonna have to stop me, Steven. Don't do it, Blake! [GUNSHOT] [GRUNTS] [MATTHEW GROANS] I'm fine. KRYSTLE: Oh, Blake. - It's all right, darling. - It's all over. - I still can't believe it. Well, Matthew is never gonna hurt us again, never gonna hurt anyone. Blake. Blake, what happened in there? Matthew went insane. He tried to kill us all. Oh, God. They told me that he's dead. Did you kill him? I did. - Steven, what? - I'm all right, Mother. - Oh, Steven. - I'm all right. MAN: Blake. We still some have reporters here. How do you wanna handle it? I'd like to get my family back to the house. No reporters. Not just now. All right. Steven? We're gonna need a complete statement for the inquest. Inquest? - He just did what he had to do. - It's all right, Mother. Whatever you need. Blake. Yes? I'm sure that, uh, the inquest will be routine. No charges filed. I suggest you get your son some psychiatric help. I've seen that look before. It happens to my officers after a first-time shooting too. It leaves a scar. He's gonna need some help, Blake. Okay. Come on. Let's go home. Let's go, darling. [AMBULANCE DOOR CLOSES] Please, Steven. Come on, son. Let's go. [KNOCK ON DOOR] [DOOR OPENS] Steven. I thought you'd be sleeping. No. I, uh I know what you're going through. It's gonna be all right, you know. I killed Matthew. I stuck a knife right into him. You had to do what you did back there, you saved our lives. Krystle and mine. I killed a man. Does that make me some kind of hero, Dad? [CHUCKLES] Who knows? Maybe I'll get a medal for it. Show it to my son someday. Here. Give me that shirt. Give it to me, son. It's going to be all right. Damn it, Matthew, why? - Excuse me, sir. - Yes? - May I speak to you for a moment? - Yes. I, uh, just wanted you to know that what you said about Mrs. Gunnerson and Jeanette, - our taking time off, - Hmm. We'd rather not if it's all right with you and Mrs. Carrington. Well, yes, but after what you've been through, you should get away, if only for a little while. We belong here, Mr. Carrington, with you and the family. Thank you. - Good night, sir. - Good night. [FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING] GERARD: Miss Fallon, Mr. Jeffrey, welcome home. FALLON: Hi, Gerard. JEFF: Gerard. JEFF: Nice to see you again. GERARD: Thank you. You too. - Fallon. - Daddy. - Hello, Jeff. - Blake. Thank you so much for coming. What is it? What's wrong? Haven't you heard what happened? - No, we haven't. - No. Well, come on. I'll tell it to you over a cup of coffee. My God, how horrible. How is Steven taking it? I'm not sure. I don't think it'*** him completely yet. But it's certainly going to help to have you here. All right, now tell me, what brings you two to town? And where in the world are my grandchildren? At home. Jeff has some business in Denver and I wanted to see everyone. Well, you're a welcome sight indeed, you two. Just what the family needs right now. I'm sure they're all exhausted. We'll get a chance to see them in the morning. Fallon? Um, I'll be right up, Jeff. - Good night, Blake. - See you at breakfast. I can't tell you how good it is to have you back here. Even if it only is for a couple of days. Oh, Daddy, you've all been through so much. Hey, hey, hey, I told you we're fine. Now, don't you go falling apart on me. Fallon, is there something that you wanted to talk to me about? I mean, alone? No, I just wanted to be with you. You are all right, aren't you? Yes. - "Business here in Denver"? - What did you want me to tell him? Why didn't you tell the truth? After what happened here? How could I? I wasn't about to tell him you think I'm losing my mind again. - Oh, come on, Fallon. - Oh, come on, what? Have you forgotten your little sanity test in the desert? Why? Because I called you Randall? Oh, that really made me feel totally together. Thank you. Hey, wait a minute. Let's be honest here. You weren't exactly with it when I found you. A dozen miles away from your car. Your boots weren't even scratched up. I can tell you why my boots weren't dirty. - That's not what this is all about. - Oh, isn't it? I think it is. I know it is. Okay, fine, I'm listening. Tell me exactly what happened. Not with that attitude. What? What do you want from me? Nothing, Jeff. Nothing. I'm tired. Let's just leave it alone for tonight. [DOOR SLAMS] [KNOCK ON DOOR] KRYSTLE: Steven? Come on in. You feel like talking? Sure. I haven't had a chance since this afternoon. What's there to say, really? Matthew's dead. I killed him. It's over. Steven, I'm sorry. - I feel like this was all my fault. - No, it wasn't. But Matthew was only here because of me. He loved you. He always did. He came to take you away to this place where supposedly everybody loves everybody else. But it was a place that only existed in his mind. You can't blame yourself. The Matthew you knew never left the jungle. Whoever that was, he wasn't the man I remembered. [SIGHS] Steven, you were my first friend in this house. I care about you very much. Krystle, don't worry about me. I think you should talk to someone about this. A psychiatrist? Yes. I think that would be very good for you. I appreciate your concern. But I don't need therapy. I don't need help. I'm okay. Excuse me. - You're Fallon, aren't you? - Yes. Well, at last we meet. And at the crack of dawn. I'm your cousin Leslie. Ben's daughter? Oh, Leslie, of course. If you're wondering about this outfit, I was off to work. I'd love to have a cup of coffee and talk to you for a minute. I'm sorry, Leslie. Uh, I'd like that, but I'm meeting a friend downtown. We could talk later. I'll be back this afternoon. [DOOR OPENS] And hello to you too, cousin Fallon. [DOOR CLOSES] MAN [ON PA]: We'll be landing in Los Angeles in ten minutes, Miss Fallon. Now, Fallon, you say they took you aboard the spaceship. They examined you. You felt very removed, as if you were observing them doing this to you. It sounds crazy, doesn't it, Dr. Parris? Do you think you're crazy, Fallon? No, of course not. But nobody's gonna believe me. Fallon, people from all walks of life, many with impeccable credentials, have sworn to encounters with extraterrestrials. But when I tell Jeff, he's gonna think I've lost my mind. Are you testing Jeff's trust? All I know right now is I went through something so strange, unlike anything I've known. I have to let him know what I went through. All right, Fallon, if you feel that strongly about it. As long as you understand that what you have to say would stretch anybody's credulity. It won't be easy. No matter how much Jeff loves you. Now, don't get me wrong, Bill, I'm honoured to be considered as a candidate. But you know what my family has been through this past month. Well, believe me, Blake, I totally understand. But the primary is just around the corner. Well, maybe the timing is wrong. I don't know. Perhaps I ought to say just a plain "no." Now, that would be a mistake. Why? There's no shortage of qualified candidates. Or, uh, unqualified candidates. I happen to know that you fellows have been talking to Alexis the past couple of weeks. That was a different faction of the party, Blake. I believe they've since lost interest. That little episode in the river scared them off. What's that got to do with anything? It was an accident. Ha, ha, Blake, it's the perception. Aggressive media. There are a lot of reasons to discount Alexis Colby, that accident certainly isn't one of them. Now, look, we're coming to you for all the right reasons. You have a good business sense, coupled with vision and compassion. It takes a man whose success and power have not diminished his concern for the people to run this state. You have all the qualities, Blake. All of them. He certainly knows the right things to say, doesn't he, Jeff? Well, I'd have to say they're all true. All right, Bill, give me a day or two to think it over and I promise you an answer one way or another. Come on board, Blake. Colorado needs you. - Well, good to meet you, Jeff. - Nice to meet you, Bill. Thanks again for lunch, Blake. And please, think it over carefully. I will. Governor of Colorado. It's a hell of a challenge, Blake. If the truth be known, it's been a dream of mine for quite a while. But is the timing right? So my timing was a little off. But he couldn't have left that cabin before I got there. - Where do you think he went? - I have no idea. The cabin was empty. There was nothing personal left. Look, Mrs. Colby, I'm good, but I need something to go on. Well, then find something, Mr. Hess. That man saved my life. I must find out who he is. Okay. I'll do my best. This is a tough business. People don't seem to understand that. You seem to understand the amounts on the cheques I write to you. Goodbye, Mr. Hess. If you're gonna track a man in the country, lady, you don't wear big-city perfume. [CHUCKLES] I'll remember that. [KNOCK ON DOOR] Come in. Alexis. I just ran into Morgan Hess getting on the elevator. Don't tell me you still have that weasel on the payroll. He's just, uh, handling a minor matter for me. What did you want to see me about? It's about Steven. I spoke to him last night. He seemed fine. He's not. I can see it, it's the look in his eyes. He's, uh, he's hiding a lot of pain. Now, I've tried to talk to him, tried to get him to open up, but [SIGHS] And he won't go to get professional help. Professional help? - Do you really think he needs that? - Yes, I do. Now, I've always been able to talk to Fallon and understand her. And you? Heh. You've always been able to find a way to reach Steven. Yes. There is a special bond between us. So why don't I talk to him? Maybe he'll confide in me. Good. All I ask is that you listen with an open mind. And don't say anything until I've finished. - Fallon - Please, Jeff, it's important to me. All right. I'm listening. That night in the desert, when my car broke down, I felt very alone, very frightened. There was a chill in the air, but I began to perspire. And my heart was beating as if I were in a nightmare. FALLON: I grabbed the car phone. I tried to call for help. But the operator couldn't hear me. There was static, getting louder and louder. And suddenly, my car lights went out. [SPACESHIP WHIRRING] Then the car filled with a bright light. I thought, "Oh, someone's coming to help me." I got out of the car. But what I saw coming out of the sky, I thought, "No, jt couldn't be." But I could see jt clearly. It was a spaceship. I wanted to run, get away from jt. But I couldn't move. A panel slid open and a ramp came down. And then a figure appeared. He held out his hand, and suddenly I was moving toward jt, helplessly. As jf I were being drawn to jt. The closer I got, the less afraid I became. I found myself inside facing him. But I wasn't afraid then. I felt somehow elated. And as we left the Earth, I was never more at peace. My God. Jeff, I told you what happened. Will you please say something? I don't know what to say. I didn't expect to hear anything like that. I'm sure you didn't. Can you remember anything else? Pieces mostly. [SIGHS] I was I was examined. With needles. Uh, a feeling of paralysis. It terrified me. I'm trying to stay with you on this. But you said you had a feeling of peace and then you said you were terrified. Which one is it? - Both. - Both? I know how this must sound to you. I can't explain it, but it did happen. You have to believe me. Jeff, I wanna share this with you, but it's very painful for me. I need to know what you're thinking. You got lost in the desert. You started hallucinating or saw a mirage. I know what I went through and I know I wasn't hallucinating. What does Dr. Parris think? [SIGHS] He told me there were other normal people who'd experienced something like this, so he doesn't think I'm crazy. - If that's what you mean. - Oh, come on, Fallon. We're not exactly talking about a walk in the park here. I need some time to digest this. Look, why don't you get some rest, huh? Why? Because you think I'm sick? - Fallon - I'm not. Fallon. Look, I am I've gotta go. I promised Dex that I'd see him in the hospital. [DOOR OPENS THEN CLOSES] SAMMY JO: Steven. They told me you were up here. - What's wrong? Is Danny all right? - Yeah, he's fine. But some television people were at the ranch today. They wanted film on Danny and me for the 6:00 news. Oh, no, Sammy Jo, I'm sorry. I'll have some of Dad's people get out to Delta Rho as soon as possible. That's not why I'm here, Steven. I was at the stables when they came to the door. Danny almost answered it. He doesn't know what happened to Matthew Blaisdel, and it's all over the news. Shouldn't he hear it from us? Shouldn't we tell him? - I should tell him. - When? Before you leave town? I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to sound like that. I promised myself I wouldn't do this. It's all right. What if Matthew had killed you? I mean, Danny and I, We need you, Steven. WOMAN [ON PA]: Dr. Litchfield, call your office. Dr. Litchfield, call your office. - Oh. - Oh. Oh, I'm sorry. Uh, I didn't hurt you, did I? No, I'm fine. That's okay. Here you go. I really am sorry. It's okay. Well, it's nice to have, uh, run into you. You going to see Dex too? - "Too"? - We're old friends. Ah, I see. Well, I have some business to discuss with Mr. Dexter. Maybe you could come back in, say, 15 minutes? - Why can't we go in together? - It's private business. Look, since we got here at the same time, why don't we flip a coin, the loser will come back later. Fair? Fair. Got a coin? - There you go. - Okay. - Call it. - No, ladies first. Oh, that's chauvinistic. But I'll buy it this time, thank you. Heads. - I win. You lose. Bye. - Excuse me. - Do you work here? - Yeah. Chairman of the Board of Trustees. [DEX GROANS] - Oh, thank God, a friendly face. - There's another one waiting for you. - Yeah? Who? - He didn't say. I didn't ask. But you are obviously a very popular guy around these parts. Right now, a bored guy is more like it. Well, then, why don't we go over these reports. That should perk you up a bit. Blake wasn't kidding. You did go right back to work. Somebody's gotta watch over the store. Leslie, it looks like I'm gonna be laid up for a while. Unh, I think it would be a smart move if I brought somebody in to replace me as project manager. Oh, come on. I can handle it. Nothing personal, Miss Carrington. There are areas you're just not familiar with. Oh, really? Such as? Such as? Well, the due dates to renew the pipe site leases. Due ten days ago. Signed and renewed. Here. The computer report on shale composition. Here. The budget breakdown for the next quarter. Here. Is there more? Funny you should ask. Replacement personnel for vacationing field men. Here. Impressed? Not unimpressed. My pal Dex, always heavy with the compliments. One new guy? Heh, you're gonna need five to fill in for me. [SIGHS] Okay. You've got the job. [GASPS] You won't be sorry. Hmm, I like it already. Down, boy, down. [CHUCKLES] Steven, please don't be angry with me. I just wanna make sure that you're all right. - Are you sure now? - Are you? Heh, that's what Dad and Krystle keep asking me. Steven, I am not Dad and Krystle. I'm your mother. Now, what you did took a lot of courage. But it also I think it also took its toll. I didn't wanna kill him. I swear to God, I didn't. Matthew was my friend. There was a time we could really talk. I could confide in him. And he didn't judge me. Darling, nobody's judging you now. Mother, when you're gay, everyone judges you. It comes with the territory. You wanna know something? When I realised he was actually gonna kill us all, I didn't stop to think, I just acted. I didn't even know I had stabbed him, until Dad took the knife away from me. Now let's sit down. Steven, you had to make a terribly difficult decision. But it was the right one. Now, nobody's going to condemn you for it. So please, don't condemn yourself. What should I do, just forget about it? No. You face it. How do I do that? You think I should see a psychiatrist? No, you talk to people. Talk to me. You're my son, Steven. And you are a survivor. Mother, no matter where I go, or what I do, or who I talk to, even you, the fact remains that I killed a man and I have to learn to live with that. [DOOR OPENS] MATTHEW: You don't have what jt takes, Steven. You can't survive, not in Blake Carrington's world. You don't have what jt takes. You can't survive, Steven. You can't survive, not in Blake Carrington's world. You can't survive. Look me in the eye and tell me I'm wrong, Steven. You can't survive. You're wrong, Matthew. I can survive. Private thought? [CHUCKLES] Many thoughts. Steven, this business of running for governor, the dinner tonight Well, I think the dinner is a wonderful idea. With Fallon and Jeff back, and Adam and Dana here, a family reunion is just what we all need. Yes. Steven especially could use a little family support right now. What about you? What do you need to make your decision? [SIGHS] Darling, I'm a lucky man. I've been blessed with a full life. Friends, family. The love of an extraordinary woman. And I almost lost it all. But you didn't. We're together and we always will be. What if I said to you, let's run away. Let's leave Denver and turn everything over to the kids. Just take Krystina and find our private paradise that we've talked about so many, many times. Then I'd leave with you tonight and we'd be happy. But? What about your dream? Dreams can affect a lot of people. Do you know what a political campaign can do to us as a family? Blake, this family's much stronger than you think. This campaign can't hurt us. Do it. If you want to, just do it. What are Jeff and Fallon doing here? Why did they come back now? Jeff said he had some business to take care of. I wonder. They knew we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii. This was their chance to get close to father without us around. Heh, I wouldn't be surprised if their kids are on the next plane. Sweetheart, you know what? I think you're overreacting. - In fact, I know you are. - Well, maybe. But I do know one thing, I'm not sorry we decided to start a family. [DANA CHUCKLES] Yes. This is Dana Carrington. I wanna get a message to Dr. Davis. GERARD: Good evening, Miss Leslie. - Hi, Gerard. [DOOR CLOSES] Mr. Colby. - You? - You? - Leslie? - Jeff? - How were things in the boardroom? - Boring. [CHUCKLES] I'll explain it to you after I change to fit in to the surroundings. Properly posh, don't you know? - How did you get past the guards? - I'm a reporter, it's my job. Look, the police aren't cooperating and my boss is screaming. I have nothing to say. Get out! Give me a statement. Something. I'll give you a statement. I killed Matthew Blaisdel. And under the same circumstances, I'd do it again. Don't you ever bother me or my family. Do I make myself clear? - Sure, Mr. Carrington. - Thank you. Thanks for being here. [DOOR CLOSES] [SCOFFS] - Danny asleep? - Yeah. What is it, Steven? I've made some decisions today and I want you to hear them. Sit down. You said this afternoon that you and Danny need me. And now I know I need you too. I'm not running away, not this time. I'm taking you up on your offer, Sammy Jo. You said you'd live with me under any conditions. What are the conditions? That I move back in here, but that I move into my own bedroom, not yours. If you can't handle that, please tell me now. Thank you. Hello, Dex. Just put the flowers there. I must be dying. An angel, with fruit and flowers. [CHUCKLES] I was on my way to Blake's party and I wanted to drop by and see how you were doing. Our past aside, I'm sorry you were hurt. Is that sincerity I hear coming through? One crass remark and it won't be. [SIGHS] All right. I'll only say "thank you." And I'm glad you stopped by. I'm glad too. Is it my medication, or are we actually being civil with each other? Heh, well, it's about time, don't you think? Since we're into this exchange of kind words, I could say that you do look radiant. Oh, thank you. It must be the dress. No, I'm not talking about the dress. It's you. You've got that look. What look? Oh, come on. You know damn well what I mean. The last time you glowed like that, I provided the electricity. Heh, your memory flatters you, Dex. I know what I know. What's his name? Look. Lord, look at the time. I'm so late for Blake's party. Gotta go. Take care of yourself, Dex. Alexis. You take care of yourself. I will. WOMAN: Yes, yes, fine. - Martini? - No, thank you very much. - Thank you. - Good evening, Alexis. - Hello, Blake. Hello, Krystle. - Hello, Alexis. It was so nice of you to invite me to your party. I wouldn't miss your pot roast for the world. Where's Steven? He's not here and I, uh, I doubt that he'll make it tonight. Oh, he'll be here, Blake. I know he will. Then we got into this thing about hospital boardrooms I was wearing my work clothes. I don't think he believed me. I had the feeling this is more your style. Oh, you are so original, ha, ha. ADAM: How long do you plan to be here? It all depends on Jeff's business. What's he up to, Fallon? Maybe I can get in on a good thing. You always were great at getting in on a good thing, weren't you, Adam? Fallon, darling, you look wonderful. You sounded a little tense on the phone this morning. Oh, I'm fine. Thanks, Mother. - Good. How are the children? - Wonderful. ALEXIS: Steven. BLAKE: How are you? - Hi. BLAKE: Sammy Jo. Son, I'm so glad you're here. So am I, Dad. - Hi, Krystle. - Oh, Steven. - Hello, Mother. ALEXIS: Darling, hi. Fallon, where were you this morning? - I missed you. FALLON: Ha, ha. Oh, it's a long, dull story. I'll tell you about it later. - Adam, how was Hawaii? ADAM: It was the best. - Thank you, Steven. - Great. Thank you. I would like to propose a toast. - A toast? - Oh. To the Carrington family. Alive and well. - Here. Here. - Cheers. - To the family. ALL: Cheers. It's so good to see you. [ALL CHATTERING] Mrs. Carrington, a telephone call for you. Oh, thank you. I'll take it out in the hall. Excuse me. Excuse me, Mrs. Colby. Telephone. You can take it over there. Oh, thank you, Gerard. - Excuse me, darling. STEVEN: Of course. DANA [OVER PHONE]: Dr. Davis? DAVIS [OVER PHONE]: Dana, sorry I wasn't available. I had to do an emergency caesarean operation. - what can I do for you? - Can I come see you tomorrow? DAVIS: Uh, just a minute. Let me check my appointments. Yes, at 2;00. Uh, do you wanna tell me a little bit about it? I'd rather not. DAVIS: Okay. Then I'll see you at 2;00 tomorrow. Hello, this is Alexis Colby. Mrs. Colby? It's Hess. I found him. You did? Where? Thank you, Mr. Hess. That is wonderful news. Blake, Krystle, I'm terribly sorry, I've go to go. An emergency. Something's come up. Look, I'm sorry I have to miss your dinner. I know you've been slaving over a hot stove. - So I'll take a rain cheque. Bye. - Bye. What the devil was that all about? I don't know. [SPEAKING INDISTICTLY] Who was on the phone? Someone from the office. They heard we were back. [BOTH CHUCKLE] Fallon? Come join the party. Jeff, we need to talk more. For God's sakes, not tonight. You do think I'm crazy, don't you? What am I supposed to think? You talk about creatures examining you. You referred to him. Was it a man? Describe him. I His skin was, I don't know, leathery. And there was a scent of cinnamon. Cinnamon? I see. Was he baking? Stop making fun of me. I'm trying to understand. You're not making much sense. Why won't you listen to me? Really listen? [ALL CHATTERING] Lovely ladies, kind gentlemen, I have an announcement to make. So if you'II, uh, come to rigid attention If anyone had told me a couple of days ago that I'd be standing here tonight, surrounded by the people I love most in this world, I would not have believed it. But here we are. It served as a reminder how important family is to me. So because you are so important, Krystle and I would like you to share a moment with us. I have decided to run for governor of Colorado. [ALL CHEERING] - It's wonderful news. FALLON: Congratulations. - How do you like that? KRYSTLE: Isn't that great? MAN [ON VIDEO]: The third day of Denver's most-celebrated trial in the last 20 years, continued this morning with the appearance of a mystery witness subpoenaed by the assistant district attorney. Hey, what the hell is going on? Come on, roll the film. [DOOR OPENS] All right, what's the gag? Now, what is going on here? Do you wanna tell me what you're doing? What's this all about? Hey, pal. Hey, you. Hey. I'm talking to you. Champagne and popcorn. The perfect appetiser, don't you think?
