The story of you know Judges 19 and the concubine they cut up into pieces, you know, look at
the ark of the covenant your face burns up...at least in Raiders of the Lost Ark I look at
some of that theres something I dont understand about a God that is so big and yet thats the
very beauty of Jesus Jesus came to show us what that God looks like with skin on you
know in a way that we can acutally follow and touch and who experienced violence and
who was a victim of violence he teaches us how to interact with evil I look at Jesus
and I see Him say you've heard it said an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth but I'm
going to show you another way, theres a new law its a law of love a new way of interacting
with evil and we can we can annihilate evil without
So I look at that eye for an eye thing its just pretty clear to me that we;ve misconstrued
it sort of used it as a license for revenge rather than a limitation of retaliation which
is what it was you know I mean it was very clear that God started going Okay theres a
limit to how much you can retaliate in the old law right like an eye for an eye tooth
for a tooth someone pokes your eye out you cant go poke both their eyes out you know
an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth someone breaks your arm you cant go break their arm
and buckle their knee you know and yet Jesus is going but I am going to tell you dont even
take their eye out you know you may have that "right" to but theres a better way uh and
and that way is the way of love
