We?re going to talk a little bit about the uniform used in Wing Chung or, Chinese marshal
arts. Wing Chung is a southern style, which is why there are no arms on the uniform, so
the hands are exposed for hand techniques. The lacing that you see here, this was invented
before buttons. All these laces go in and, out and, there are no buttons to pull the
uniform together. The pants are loose fitting and, easy to move. In Chinese kungfu most
of the time you see people wearing, kungfu shoes. The reason being you do a lot of stop
kicks, a lot of stomping in your stance. It's a little bit different than some other marshal
arts where there's a lot of kicking against pads. In Wing Chung there's a lot of forms,
there's a lot of shifting in the stance. Lot of using your feet against stop kicks, is
kicking the person, stopping the kick, stop kicking the person. So, we want to be able
to apply all the techniques. So, what were wearing, makes it very comfortable to use
those techniques in Wing Chung. This is the sash, the seafood sash on it. It says, Wing
Chung Kungfu seafood tei and, this is the patch that's unique to our school. California
