Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, Announces Investment at The Canadian Film Centre in Toronto

The Canadian Film Centre is a vital part of Ontario's culture and has been for the last 25 years and I'd say Canadian culture. Your programs provide our creative talented artists with the training that they need to thrive in this very important field. And you helped to promote Canada's rich and diverse culture around the world. We're honoured, as the Ontario Government, to support that work and to help you to build on that success. The Northern Dancer Pavilion will allow you to expand and modernize your programming. It will provide students with the advantages that they need to pursue their careers. This state of the art space will help build a wider audience for Canadian culture and keep important industry jobs right here at home. This project is one of the reasons that we proposed an additional 9 million dollars over the next 3 years to fund the CFC in our 2013 Budget. We want to foster creativity; we want to support bold ideas. We want our film industry to get the recognition that it deserves, not just as a source of entertainment although that is critical, but as a vital part of our economy and a source of creative, rewarding jobs. So we're going to continue to work with you to ensure you can do what you do best, showing the world the talent that Ontario possesses and the vibrant culture of Canadian people. I want to thank you for your contributions that you have made to the ongoing success of our film and new media industry.
